Help please, I am a 1st time grower and am kinda on a fixed budget so i set up a grow space in my closet and was wondering something about getting started 1st: i have started a few plants in a jiffy pellet puck and let them go the more dominate ones i have moved off into there own 5gal containers i have one really nice looking one by it's self and wanted to know if i screwed up cause i grow in dirt im kinda scared to try to transplant it into a new container or even change out the soil for some new soil. I read u need to flush out the med for salt build up but if the plant is in a container to big how am i susposed to get it out without damaging the roots and wanted to know should i sratch the plant and start a new or is there a safe way to do so it is about 1 month old and is starting it's 3rd set of 3 leaves. so if u have n e good info it would be much apperciated

I don't quite understand your question:confused2:
But I will take a guess
Flushing is just over watering to get the salts out. You do not remove the plant from their container to do this.

Look up transplanting procedure online. Its not too hard and I would suggest doing it with dry soil not wet.

Overwatering is synonymous with frequency, not necessarily how much is actually administered at a given moment.

Flushing is basically using four to five times as much water as the size of the container, essentially watering with 5x amount of container volume at once, Overwatering would be watering everyday, even when the plants dont need it, causing them to essentially drown.

Flushing would still follow the same feeding or watering regimen.

edit just dont want any confusion here, newbs believe everything they read, like me, lol.

ok i guess i didnt word it right so that was my fault and im sorry what i meant to ask is that i have one 3 wk only plant that i cant seem to find the root ball cause my container is kinda bigg and i want to change the soil out but i dont wanna harm the roots and i think the container is to big to get a good root ball outta it becasue of sheer size of the pot thats it's in so i was wondering what would be a safe way to get it outta what it's in and put new soil in or should i just leave it and flush it regularly............ I believe thats better than the first one i hope n e info u all can share would be much apperciated and Pic's will be posted soon

A 5 gallon bucket is big enough to grow in I only flush my outdoor soil grows only if I am having problems and only then.

just take out way too much soil, then break away the excess until you reach the root ball. thats easy enough isnt it.?.

Did you say a three week old plant? I wouldn't sweat finding the root ball. I have only experience in growing veggies and house plants so far, but I think this will still apply. Make a circle with your index fingers and thumbs touching, that is the circumference around the plant I would use. Go down 6 to eight inches with a small gardening shovel. Remove that dirt with the plant and transfer to its new home then flush once. The less you have to disturb the roots the better. This may also help with the shock of transplanting. Good luck.

cease watering for 4-5 days. roll the bucket on its side to loosen the soil. slowly pry the plant and dirt out while the bucket is on its side careful to not damage the plant.

replace dirt with good quality soil mix like happy frog or equivalent. make sure you have good drainage in the bucket or add while plant is out. 5 gal bucket is great for growin.
