I did not get feminized seeds when I was starting out because I was killing them off so fast. Actually I murdered some feminized seedlings and went to a different source for more seeds. I forget where but he threw in free seeds with my order and I practiced a lot before I got the first ones to actually grow.
I was nervous that I wouldn't be able to identify the boys from the girls just by looking. I looked up gender testing and found 2 labs that could confirm gender.

www.deltalabs.com. Can't remember the prices - one was $10/plant and one was $15/plant. If you are using regular seeds Delta Labs can give you gender using just the first little leaf that comes up out of the seed. Don't whack it off too soon. Let it get a couple of serrated leaves first. This way you eliminate the males before you spend time and money on growing them up to a size where you can see the gender(s).
The Leaf Works test can be taken from any new growth on the plant. Leafworks also seemed to be quicker. I had 7 plants and they both confirmed the same 6 girls and 1 boy. The boy has been removed.
I have the option to buy feminized or regular knowing I can find out the gender if I need to. So that's it. The labs also can check THC content and other stuff. I don't know any of the other pricing. I hope that helps.
