I don't typically have gnats, but did recently.Bought a bag of Fox Farm Ocean Forest from Amazon recently for my winter indoor grow. Plants look healthy enough but i started noticing fungus gnats so I bought stickies from Amazon. I don't really want to just trap them. What do you guys do?
The bag i bought is loaded with them so I threw it out! I can't believe i didn't notice it right from the start.
I let soil dry on top and sprinkled diatomaceous earth completely covering surface. After a few days the gnat population was noticeably smaller. I watered again which ruins diatomaceous earth so I allowed to dry and after second application, didn't have gnats anymore.
Neem cake in soil mix helps kill the gnat larvae(nemetodes) too...which may be why i don't usually have gnats. I use living soil with neem meal incorporated.
