Work from the top down. Check the bud/swollen calyxes. Not the sugar leaves poking outta the bud.

The color of the trichomes will tell ya.

If they are done on top and you want to do this. I'd cut them off close to where marked and let them lowers finish to your liking.

So I did what you said. Been drying for 6 days. Trimmed and this is what I have smells good. Smelled like hay until I trimmed all the leaves off the buds. Have it in a jar now. About 20 grams.

So if I want to harvest the 3 tall bud sites that are finished and leave the rest to finish. What’s the best way to do this.

I just snip them off

Open the jars for how long and how often? . Also my son smoked some and said it was very good. But I’ve read to jar for several weeks. Why and how long ?

That's something ya kinda gotta figure out. Once you've done it a couple of times, you can tell by the feel. If I'd just jared it, I'd open the jars once a day for 15-30 minutes for a day or two and then wait a couple of days. If it dries out too much, you can rehydrate it. If it's too wet and you get mold, it's only good for making butter.

They make little gadgets that you can stick in the jar that'll tell you the humidity. I've never used 'em, but someone that has will chime in.
