Clones: How much light should be given when you first start them?
How long does it take for them to typically take root?

Not too much light is required. CFL's are great.

2.5 to 3 weeks. Longer if you stare at them:joint:

There is nothing wrong with 24 Hr or 14. Its all up to what is your bag.

Cheap n easy are cfl's with no timer 24 Hrs a day........Or use a timer with cfl's to save on elect $. You don't need 5000 lumens / sf for clones.

I use a corner in my veg room with MH for my clones with no probs. Any night period causes stretching - and for me - I don't want none.

The real deal with clones is starting with a healthy mother, cutting your tips at an angle underwater, using a rooting hormone, and setting them in a moist medium with high humidity no hotter than 80 deg F.

In 3 weeks, the lower leaves will yellow letting you know you have roots. Leave them alone - don't bug them. The top growth will soon explode.

If you have all the above your success rate will be at 100%.;)

thats a good read on what you need to get great cut success. thanks for that PB.
