I was at home depot today scouting out items for my first grow. I was in the lighting section deciding what CFLs to get and I saw bright/soft/warm. The question is are bright CFLs the same thing as warm?

for seedlings i think cool blue is better then that yellowish warm color.

im just confused at all the different names for the same type of light. so i just want it clarified. blue spectrum light comes from soft/cool white cfls and red spectrum comes from bright/warm cfls?

no red spectrum does not come from warm CFLs.

You should invest 100 dollars and buy a 400 watt hps. That would increase your yield 5 times over. Much better than cfls. Just my thoughts. Good luck. Take care and be safe.

also, i know from experience, ive looked at that same cf you did and it shows the light spectrum on the back in a much more condensed consumer cut down version. if i remember correctly (been over 8 months since i looked, cool is far left, warm is far right, and theres a needle over which is which. you want a mix of the extremes, both far right and far left.

ive heard rumors of wanting more of the cool, bluer/clearer bulbs. so split em up i suppose. but if you see some with spectrums in the middle, find the extremes and get those!
