Sorry Jan. 🥺
He is 88 and very tired of cancer so Even though I want him to get better it is the best for him. I know he is suffering and always with a smile on his face. I am not looking forward to this next chapter.

I've dealt with it more times than I want to think about.
I watched my Father,Mother,Sister, and Grandfather die. Fking sucks.
I'm the last of my immediate family.
Hang in there Jan. Only time can heal those wounds.
I have to totally put it out of my mind to handle it. I feel guilty sometimes because I don't think about them very much but it's my way of dealing with loosing someone I love. Other wise I would be a miserable *******. It's also very bad for your heart.
A broken heart is a real thing and can kill you. That's why a lot of couples who have been together a long time die right after they loose their spouse.
So sorry Jan. Just know we are here for you.

When I moonlighted as an assistant sexton, I had a chance between the service and the coverup to read the stones. Women can live without men. On the most part, men can't live without women. If the man went first, most times the woman would make it another 20+ years. If the woman went first, the man went within 4 years or less. I've seen them die weeks after their wives, and less than six months was common.
There are exceptions, but that was the general rule.

So sorry,

Good thing about if Dad passes first Mom has dementia. She wont remember most days. I am not looking forward to breaking the news over and over though. Im a tough B itch. I will manage. Mom needs me so at least theres that.
That's where a little white lie can be forgiven. "He was up here yesterday to see you. Don't you remember?"
That's better than seeing her go through hell every time she hears about his death.
My Mom had dementia. Somedays, I was me. Somedays, I was Carl, her husband/my Father. Somedays, I was her favorite brother, Jim. I didn't mind. They were all people she loved.

I never correct her just roll with it. She usually calls me Joan (my dads sister ) that or meanie. She wants to eat sweets and I don't let her because it runs right thru her literally. I get stuck cleaning it up so no thanks.

Wouldn't take four years for me. Maybe four days, then the only questions would be what caliber to use and how much vodka I need to get up the nerve.

I learned that also. My mother was in a nursing home and had dementia real bad. She was a nurse all her life. One day she asked me how did I get this job. I said oh mom you don't work here. She looked crushed. So next time she ask how did I get this job I just said well it because your the best mom. She got the sweetest smile. My mom wasn't the warm fuzzy type of mom growing up. She had to raise 5 of us without a dad because he was to busy running around the country. But when she got bad she was the sweetest person in the world.
I'm sorry he and your family have to go through this. Peace!

Dad was so weak today I brought him to the ER Via ambulance. He has tested positive for Covid. Everyone else at home already tested negative. I have to get a few more tests so we can test myself and my SIL. I am at the hospital with dad. They are admitting him to the 7th Flr ICU. His BP was 52/40 and they called a code. There were like 20 people instantly in his room. He was going to the 6th flr. When his BP dropped they changed their minds and moved him to ICU. I am waiting for them to stabilize him. ( if they can) He is over it already.

That is very True brother.

I'm with you there Crash. I've been married almost 39yrs. She is my best friend and my rock. Something happens to her and I'm done. She is my main reason for waking up the next day.
I wouldn't make it long and would have no desire to do so.
She is 72 and takes no medications. Nobody even believes she is 72. Gets around damn near better than I do. Believe me she doesn't look or act her age.🥰
So yeah I'm pretty sure she will outlive my ass.😋

I'd be LOST without my wife too.
I may take a long walk in the Country with my dog and find a good place to finally sleep from pain.

Damn newlywed! Come May 10th, the Old Hen and I will be celebrating our 50th married, and 53 together. Met her when I was 16, and she dragged me out of my cradle and off to the altar at the tender age of 19.
After the demise of my childhood friend, Mark, due to his clot shots, she's officially my oldest friend.
