I am deeply confused as to why my newborns are desperately clinging to life. They've been growing for almost a week and except for 2 of them (which I started outside) they only have starter leaves which are turning yellow and dying slowly. The tips of the leaves of the two plants that have grown a little faster, and healthier are now turning yellow and then brown as well. The leaves look dry and unhealthy and the plants are growing slowly. My growspace is about 6' x 3' and I have 14 plants in it.
I've been using a 1000 wt high pressure sodium light, and I fear that it might be the problem. It turns my growroom rather hot so its hung about 4-5 feet above the plants with a fan for ventilation and such. I worry that its too hot, but down on the floor with the plants and the fan it couldn't be more than 80 degrees. They're very young so It couldn't be a nutrient deficiency yet right? I've done extensive research before taking this project on and I can;t see what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance for any help.

OK what kind of soil are you using? 1000 watt HPS for babies is alot of light and heat. Like you said that could be your problem. You should invest in some CFL's from Walmart or something to start your babies. Let them grow for 3 or 4 weeks then put them under the 1000 watter. ;)
