OK here goes. I think some of my plants might be suffereing from bad tap water. I let the water sit for at LEAST 24 hours and most times 48 hours. I put air into the water to while it sits. I have some plants that are suffering from something and someone said chlorine, so that being said I decided to boil some water and see if it helps before I invest in an RO unit. Here's where I'm confused...should my PPM go up after the boil? Cause it went from 170 to 230 after the boil. Also does boiling get around the chlorine, does it boil out. Much help would b appreciated.

Also if anyone knows of a product let me know PLEASE.

Thanks ahaead of time.

If your ppm is going up in the kettle after a boil its likely that limescale is mixing into the water

Yo Ho Snuggles,
All I would recommend is that you contact the city municapality, find out what they put in the cities water. They will either be treating with chlorine, or chloramine. Chlorine can be evaporated out, but Chloramine needs to be chemically removed.
Most cities are using very little, and it really should not hurt your plants, BUT if there is open line construction any where in the city they usually will hop up the amount of treatment.
I used to raise Japanese Koi. At one point I had three wading pools with young in them. The city changed it's water treatment without notifying the residents. I was treating my water use with de-chlor and a fast bubbler, cause the city used Chlorine. They changed and replaced the Chlorine with Chloramine, and I lost all my fish due to the Chloramine that was used. It literally burnt the gills of the fish. Just food for thought.

Is that bad?

Chlorine in tap water should never hurt the plants. It is such an individual subject that you need to really do a side by side

Hey Dude, If you just give your water a 24 hour breathing zone it will be gone, do 48 and you know you're over the top and safe, no boiling, just fresh air and time...I'm not sure why the PPM went up but just adjust, it's not rocket science, a few rules and you're safe...and a RO unit will make for better drinking water !!!
