Hi Guys,
Got my cab framed in/sheathed today in the attic. Really, I planned my upstairs remodle around a 3x5' closet with a roof that peaks at 8'. I'll be running a 400HPS and a couple of CFLs in a vegging/cloning area.

Anyway, I'm wondering about odor control. I had planned on running a carbon scrubber, but I thought today about installing a direct vent to the outdoors. My windows in this room are not visible from the sidewalk, so I thought I could frame in a vent into the windowsill. An eyeball calculation tells me I could do a 2"x12" vent in each.

Then run a duct directly from the fan to the vents and outside.

I have to admit, I'm a virgin grower! This is my first well thought-out try at it. But I honestly have no idea exactly how stinky my little girls are going to get. I wouldn't mind the smell, but I don't really want it to knock people over when they enter my home either...

Anyway, what do you guys think? Venting directly through a second floor window? I'm near a large lake and have a decent breeze nearly constantly.

Thanks--I know some of you folks can help.

buy a can filter filled with activated carbon to be safe

Your plants will be crazy stinky. the closer to the end of budding the more they will smell

Agree with above, I'd use a carbon filter as well for sure. IMO the security it will provide (and peace of mind for yourself) outweigh the extra money you will spend on one.

I am very happy with mine and can't smell anything outside of my tent (for now at least). I have 9 plants in flower, they are at about 4 weeks.

Be well.

deffinately get a scrubber! they will reek and even if you vent it directly upward, cool nights and windy days will make your babies scent noticeable for sure.

there are diys here, if you need plans for making one I will hunt them down for ya....
