then why change? like others said upping the breaker your allowing more electricity to run through the line nothing more.


if you keep the 30 amp breaker shut power off to the room, and undo a plug outlet and pull the wire through if possible (usually they leave extra length), and see if it says 12 or 10. its the only way to be sure.

good point, but if you have a #10 wire going to a wall outlet you got problems. I have never installed a wall outlet that would accept a wire size that big. 10 is usually reserved for dedicated lines, wtr htr, well pumps, etc. usually requiring the device to be hardwired versus being plugged in to an outlet.
Jusy my opinion.
But pulling the wire out is a good idea to find out exactly what you are working with.
