i have a brand new 400w hps light that i got from htg supply and sometimes it doesnt fully light up. you can see the current running through it but it never kicks fully on. i tried unscrewing it ang scraping the metal on the connecting part with a knife. screwed it back in and it works fine. the only problem is it does this every few days. anyone ever have this problem?

thanks for the advice guys i'll give them a call but i just wanted to see if anyone had a quick fix or heard of this before. is it possible to get some kind of build up on the end of the bulb that connects to the outlet. like i said when i scrape the end that makes contact with the metal inside the outlet, it will work fine for a few days. oh well thanks for all the help maybe ill just get a new bulb and use this one for backup

I had the same problem with the one I ordered from there. It would turn on sometimes but not all the time then about a week after I got it it stopped turning on at all. I called them and they sent me a new bulb (they upgraded it too from the HTG branded light to a "growbright super 400w HPS bulb"). They have VERY good customer service, I suggest that you call and see what they can help ya with. Hope it works out.

I have teh same problem with my HTG 400watt light. Just let it gain the voltage to get the light to turn on. You can here it on and see a little bit of light trying to start right? Give it about 10 min or so. Then it would be fully on.

exactly, i had to do that to get my metal halide working, keep the hood unpluged, power up the ballast for about 5 min, then plug her in, works every time for me like that. hope this helps:)

thanks alot for your replies all. yeah i think ill definetly call htg and try to get a new bulb seein as how its brand new and for how much they cost it should ligh up properly every time. i tried just letting it start up for 25 minutes one day and it never came on till i started messin with it

I bought the same light from htg supply and that happend to me i called them and they said t was a defective bulb they sent my a new one for free i just had to send the old one back.

It sounds like you have a problem if it dosen't kick on after a few minutes
