i was planning a dwc for some spinach to sit along side my indoor project.
i use GH 3 part for hydro.
my question is... for leafy veggies, do i keep ratios for veg, or is there a more productive mix?

beware leafy vegtables are well known to attract many different bugs.

ok,.... wasn't what i was asking, but thanks. :)

Hey Daddyo, with most of my leafy vegitables I'll maintain a strong "veg" influenced program. The few times I've grown them indoors I found most wanted more water than food in comparison to the MJ. It's worth mentioning the pests though, that's the reason I no longer attempt to mix the two gardens. Vegitables are more suseptable to local insect infestation and disease. I'd assume they're going to be a problem and use preventative measures. Good luck.

thanx for input.
but for the more obvious reasons, i decided to keep the two projects
separate. the veggies will benefit from natural sunlight as well as artificial,
where as that option is not feasible for a stealth project....
not yet anyway. :)
when they get growing, ill pic em, i build my own DWC, much prettier than anything i have found yet. it has to look nice, or the wife will hate it.
i got really nice containers from Target, not tubs, more like boxes.
there is a 2 gallon that fits right into a 4 gallon, just like a waterfarm, but much nicer looking. you'll see...

man, i didnt know spinach was so hard to germinate....
finally, i have a few going... not quite big enough to put in the dwc yet, but soon.
here a pic of my fresh off the line bubbler.

I'm starting the same thing( veg's indoors/ but in soil) the pest's are my main concern though. I'll keep 'em seperate for now to see how things progress....

Well im glad this came up because my wife was just asking me while we were eating a nice garden salad for lunch if it would be ok to put a couple of tomato plants in with my hydro grow. I told her I didnt think it would be such a good idea but that I would ask around on here and see what I could find out ! so my questions are answered, thanks guy's

as far as veggies inside, i would think that you would get few pests with plants started indoor, especially in winter.
but if you were bringing them in from outside, i could see huge issues.
once my wife brought some potted tomatoes into the house, no where near my girlies...
buggers found them anyhow! bass turds... :(

Sometimes, I put the :bong1: in the flower cab to keep the girlies company and keep them motivated. I haven't done it enough times to produce conclusive results for or against, yet. Stay tuned.

I tryed to grow spinach but it made me mad so im sticking to my peppers and lemon balm

Isn't spinach a low light cool temp crop?:confused2:

Hey daddyo - I grew lettuce in the same setup as my WW last winter - same nutes (GH 3-part) and feeding schedule. Got some good advice on my "mixed media" on Garden Web - hxxp://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/

There's quite a few mj growers there as well who helped me in my hydro setup = check it out.

pcduck - correct on the temps - got to keep it cool. I ran 16/8 and did just fine with the lights.

hence the trouble i had getting them going.
i did the old wet paper towel in a zip lock.
second try i put bag right on basement floor, germed in two days.
low light wont be an issue.
i wonder if i could breed MJ with the spinach to get a cool temp / low light strain of buds going! :D

i actually got it growing!
just gotta be more stubborn than the spinach.

and one of my first attempt at cloning.
the AK47s are doing way better than the Sweet Tooth.
and no bugs... yet.
i went through each plant i have here.
those cutting came from outside. i did find a couple mites!
but i squashed them dead.... bass turds.:hitchair:
