Interesting story about Bridgehampton track.
I remember wiring houses out east and hearing the cars.
Long Island had a lot of tracks from still present Riverhead Raceway ( which has a tour race today) to Islip speedway to Freeport
My Buddy Joe retired SCPD hwy pulled over Paul Newman and Steve Mc Queen drunk as skunks going to Bridgehampton.

Oh boy. This one will get you right in the feels. One minute. Sound.

Reminds me of when I feed the birds in the morning and the Old Hen/Pullet is in my way. First thing I say is, "Make a hole." If they're still there, I yell, "Make way for the Queen's Guard" and I bowl 'em outta the way.

I used to raise cubs about the same way. I'd give 'em three days to figure out the system, and then I'd change attitudes. I was working with a greenhorn one time, and a cub I'd raised walked past and asked him how long he'd been working with me. He told 'em three days. The brand new journeyman smiled and said, "You'd better keep your shirt buttoned up. He'll get better traction when he climbs over ya."
