just curious what the big difference is thanks for the input
 
In a nutshell..
Metal Hallide - Veg because its a greenish blueish spectrum light
Sodium- Budding cause its a red/orange/yellow spectrum light...

I know you can use HPS for veg and budding.. but yea... thats the main difference right there... the color of light they give off..
 
if you get a normal light ballast when your buying an hps you will have to get either MH or Sodium. But, if you get a digital ballast you can do both if I have that correct.
 
I have a switchable HPS/MH ballast, with 400w MH and HPS bulbs. From my 2 grow experience, the HPS makes the plant grow at least 3 times as fast.

I also have heard that the MH used for veg gives a shorter internode length, which results in a shorter, bushier plant.

Anyone else experience the same growth differences?
