I'm completely new and trying to see if i can actually grow a full bud. I have 4 sour diesel current growing and is only a bout 3-4 inches tall and 4 leaves on each about 1 inch long and some baby leaves coming out of them. It has been about 4 weeks and they are very small.

My grow room is about about 7 feet tall and 4 feet long and 3 feet wide. I'm using soil (Light Warrior Potting Mix). 1000watt hps about 3 feet above the leaves. I have been using tap water because my friend said it was okay but it seems he was wrong, and about two weeks into the vegetative state i started the plants on Iguana Grow, two weeks later my plants only grew 2 inches. I also have a fan on the plants, but the room seems very warm.

I was actually listening to a friend who said anything would work so he gave me a bunch of equipment and i just started this mess.

can anyone just give me the low down on everything that i'm doing wrong, and what i need to fix it or how should i go about this...

:welcome: to the forum. here is a [thread=9396]link-to-grow-guides[/thread] that will help you out some :hubba: lots of info in there. IMO your set up sounds :aok: but id think of some better ventilation for the heat that the HPS puts off one choice is to seperate the ballast as far as you can form the hood and the plants. another thing i noticed is that yousaid that your light is 3ft off the plants  thats way to far off IMO there is a great chart in this [thread=19360]light-thread[/thread]. do some reading and see what you find man lots of great info here and people too. if you get stuck or dont wuite understand something just ask, and again :welcome:to MP :48:

but 4 weeks in..is my plant sappose to be so small? and some leaves are acutallhy turning yellow

No at 4 weeks your plants should not be that small. First of all you need to find out whats wrong. You have plenty of light, so thats okay. You need to get yourself and thermometer and hygrometer immediately. You need to know the temps and humidity. You should also get a ph testing kit, which allows you to check ph in your tap water and adjust it before you feed. You should also let the tap water sit out uncovered for at least 24 hours to eliminate the chlorine in the water. If your ph is way out of whack it will definately stunt their growth. You also need some ventilatiion cause im guessing with 1000 watts its an oven in there. You also should have a regular fan moving air around in there. Do you have an aircooled reflector?? Once you get your ventilation straight it will allow you to move the light closer.

ive never had any problems yet with tap water. but doesnt light warrior have fertilizer in it? maybe that s it? probably not. flush em the light distance is perfect for seedling if Soma suggests 400 halide above them 4 feet then you should be good. but close is always better and do what you can to get CLOSER! i plan on flowering my stuff in an open environment..like in the corner of my room. i have a huge humidifier that maintians perfect RH. i thihk ill invest in a clone machine something small probably a Daisy Cloner. then i can go veg/clone/mother all in one closet. so no light gets into my flowering room. are you just doing a seed grow? and wheres your camera man?

:peace:

thx, anyone know a website i can just purchase the thermostat/ph test and whatever at?

My closet is a oven, i'm thinking about moving it to a room. but yea i got 5 more seendlings coming so hopefully i can make those grow happy.

lower your light,as dubbaman said your light is 2far from plants, check the light link posted from dubba and set your light properly

I dont think this is good advice, he allready has a heat problem and his plants are very small.
If you look at the light chart 36" is still fine for 1000 watt.
If he needed more light his plant would be growing tall and skinny.

The lights may not be the issue in a room that size, with out pics its hard to tell if they are a bit streached or not. IMO that Iguana Grow is why your seedlings are already turning yellow its a very high potent nute and may burn them up. IMO you need to check the pH of the soil fast and make sure is between 6.0 and 7.0 as this is the most ideal range for MJ. and if its outside of that area it can be fixed. If your pH is high 7.1+ you can use some ordinary store bought vinigar to bring it down only use 1/4 (i think) table spoon at a time and retest pH after a day. If its too low 5.9- it needs to come up i know there is a way to raise the pH that inexpencive too but i cant think of it, you can get some plain old pH up to adjust too most hydro shops have it for about 10 bucks. A flush of the soil may also be needed here to do that get allot of aired out water and start running it through the soil till the run off is no longer yellow in color then let sit to dry back out and check the pH again.

Growdude your right about the heat and the stretch. i said that because at the first post he mentioned ""room very warm"" not a heat problem, for me lowering the light as much i can works well. 1000hps at 36'' is 4951 lums- usually im starting my seedlings at 6000lums (425hps) and after 3-4 days i must lower my light-if no theyr stretching asking for more light..

I just got my hygro meter and its about 97f with the lights on and about 63f when its off. and another thing is my soil seems to get dry really quickly, and now my plants are turning even more yellow. I also moved everything into my extra room which is about 10feet by 10 feet.

Whats the need for such a big light at the moment? This is a delicate time for mairjuana, it is at its "child stage" Maybe a smaller light would make things easier? A 1000 is working fine, but it is causing heat issues also (prob why your plants are so small and stressed). Also, your soil doesn't sound like it is plain media (no fertilizers). If i were you i would go buy some foxfarm ocean forest mix and transplant the plants immediately. Give them a water with distilled or ph'd to 7 water, and maybe buy a couple CFL's for the moment, until you figure out how to control the heat of the 1000 watt.

One way or another you got to get that heat down.

hmmmm 97 bad way too hot try to get that down to about 85. and the night of 63 thats kinda low, you only want about a 15 degree change between day and night. IMO day (lights on) temps should be between 75F-85F and night (lights off) 60F-70F. i think the reason that your soil is drying out so fast is from the heat thats in there. as for the move into the 10x10 man do you have enough light to cover that kinda area thats 100sqft man thats a 500,000 lumen need there  id look at other options before you give up on the cabinet they were in. MOJO-BIG-TIME to try and save them babies. :bong2:

the heat i agree with and i dont no if u said u was checking ur ph but mine out of the tap was off the charts over a 9.0 so no matter what this problem is ive learnd early that it would have been imposible for me to grow with out a ph kit because my plant was not growing hardley at all and it was turning yellow on the bottom leafs and as soon as i got the ph fixed it fixed its self also mabey u gave them 2 much of the inguana grow ,what ever that is i dont no im on my first grow ,,so sorry if non of this is of any help

HAPPY GROWIN TOM TOM

A hygrometer reads the humidity in the air.... i'm just checking that the temp you say is a temp? and not a hygro reading?
