Hello to all boys, and start by saying that 'my first time so be patient if I ask silly questions ...
Yesterday, after about a month of flowering of my Big Bud xxl I decided to take a houseline and taste it .... the 'smell is' good, a little 'too much "grass" in my opinion, the sun shines and you see the crystals, quite sticky, but' when i taste it .. nothing ..... little flavor and no effect ..... is it 'normal? Should I wait more '? Maybe it's not 'ready yet?
Thanks in advance for the 'attention and any advice!

No strain will be ready in just 4 weeks. Most go 8-10 or longer if it leans More Sativa. You need to check the trichomes in order to tell when they are done.

:yeahthat: premature buds will not taste good or have the same high as mature buds.

I understand! Better to wait for the fully ripe, then it will take another month because 'Big Bud xxl should finish flowering in 6 - 8 weeks.
Meanwhile, thanks for the 'help guys!;)

You really need to get a strong(30xor better) magnifying glass or a 30x jeweler's loupe so that you can watch the tricombs develop. It is not only critical to proper harvesting, it is really cool to look at the glands as they form, fill with resin, and mature to ripe.

There is no need to try yer bud until you get close to harvest as it just isn't the same. I don't "try" mine at all. I wait till it has dried and cured properly because it is always disappointing, and then I'm afraid it isn't going to be good.

As you watch yer plant grow and the buds develop, you will see the sparkly growth of the trics begin to develop. But if you look at it under a magnifier, you will see that there are few or no heads on the trics. They just look like hairs. As the weeks progress, you will see little heads develop on those tiny hairs, then those heads will swell and be clear.

Looking at them unaided, it will look like frost building all over the little leaves around the buds. When you get to 8-9 weeks(for indica doms, longer for Sativa doms) you will be able to see the sparklies getting whiter to the naked eye. Through the magnifier you will see the tric heads starting to get milky looking. At this point you will want to watch them every other day. Once you see 90% of the tric heads are real milky and a few of them are starting to turn amber looking, you are at peak harvest time.

Some peeps like to pull them at this point for max heady high, while others will let them get more amber so that they get more medicinal effect from it. Patience is key here for best results. Big Bud Mojo to ya :)

Thanks Hushpuppy you have been very kind and precise! I understood and learned a lot with your explanation!
Certainly I have to wait 'cause they are almost in the middle' of ripening and then after looking through a magnifying glass you can see the thin wires.
The Big Bud XXL should be a Indica if I'm not mistaken, so it should be ready in late October?
It began to flourish in the last days of August.
