Zem I have had plants grown from the same seeds (we all know how this turns out) and all but one or 2 of those plants will be Heavy drinkers, (just like people LOL). I believe diff genetics' within the seeds themselves will produce the difference.
I find when watering some like 1 gallon and another plant from the same seeds needs 1 gallon.
So yes I tend to agree with your conclusion DRY ROOTS.......

what can make a plant collapse suddenly? I have 12 other plants that are ok only then a plant just collapses and I have a flood and drain system in hot weather. It is not bud rot. could it be the heat? The plant sort of almost dies and drops most of its leaves as if she is downsizing her expectations. In the pic you can see the first plant just drooping today but the one behind it did the same a while back and you can see the result. Any ideas?
It seems like your plant could be experiencing heat stress or root problems, especially with the hot weather and your flood and drain setup. Excessive heat can cause plants to droop and lose leaves as they try to conserve water, and issues like root rot or poor drainage might also be to blame. I’d recommend checking the roots for any damage and ensuring the temperature and humidity are well-regulated to prevent further stress.
