Obtaining Seeds

I have seen on a couple of sites that ordering online from the Netherlands is one of the standard options out there... I just wanted to know what the risks of this are? Especially considering I am a US citizen?

Should I just go contact my local dealer? Are there stores in the US that ship them?

I've never grown before and am looking into it for the first time so this is all new to me. Any help is appreciated.
