So, I have this little obsession with traveling to drink local micro brews. Just a few nights ago I was at my favorite bar a few hours away playing pool and betting drinks. So, somehow, I just kept getting my favorite beer handed to me about every ten minutes... So, I later walked into a gas station. I'm a fairly personable guy so I strike up a conversation with the person working there. One thing led to another and this guy working in a gas station to give me enough to roll a spliff. He also provided the papers!

So really, what I am trying to say is there are a lot of shafty people lurking about. But, when I come across someone that just wants to give my $5 worth of bud it makes my month.

How can something so nice be so illegal? I think about the years of alcohol prohibition. All you hear in your basic history classes is about how the18th amendment was ratified and then 13 years later Roosevelt changed it all back. You don't hear much about what spawned this repeal... At least I haven't.

Today, there are many public shows of discontent with the current marijuana laws. Was is similar back in the day? Who has a degree in American History?

I reckon that it has been the same since the dawn of time. The ones who go against the system are the free thinkers. That's us, the marijuana smokers. Of course we pose a threat, because we cannot be told what to do, and be manipulated like the rest of the sheep.

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!

A large part of the population are not content unless they are being told what to do and given an occassional pat on the back from time to time.

What is the true key to happiness. Happiness is the lack of need. When we learn to be happy with what we have, we will experience true happiness.

Stoners can achieve that. What good are stoners to a society that is bomarded by advertising, fashion and the drive to consume.

We see the bigger picture. Happiness aint fancy aftershave, a big car and a bimbo girlfriend with a fake pair of jugs. Happiness is the here and now, family and the simple little things in life.

(had a few beers today ... forgive my ramblings ... Peace:) )

So true dl and rb.. Makes me sad when i walk around the city, watch tv, or even a walk down to the local mart for some smokes. All you see are people pretending.

And its not like its just a possibility these people are the typical consumer whore, its blatently obvious. Are people proud of the way they live? are people proud of the fact they spent $300 on a pair of denims from the leading fashion designer store when the small businessman who imports pretty much the same pair just sells them for $40 struggles to keep his shop open?. Does nobody have self respect anymore? can nobody hold there own opinion? It doesnt seem the case. :(

Funny thing is, the entire public mass is kidding themselves. A typical guy will one year be wearing baggy pants "all about the baggies, skater style" with all his friends in the same style.. A year later hed be wearing skin tight village people pants "its all about the drainpipe jeans".. Of course his friends agree with him both times. Theres a voice in the back of there head saying "this isnt right, why are we doing this? why dont we just wear what we like" but unfortunately the TV, the Magazines and the ideals that in modern day society, you must look fresh or you stand no chance in life.

And until there are some major lifestyle checks on the behalf of the masses, its gonna get worse and worse.. I cant see MJ legalized for a decade if not longer due to the people who have the power to do so are so deluded and desperate to appeal to the masses again, because amongsed other things modern day appeal.

sorry for the rant DL.. that sounds sweet! it would make my day too.. a toothless skinny rasta tried giving me bud one day in the city, although it stank like sewage water.. i had to turn it down lol

Dude DL...just wanted to congratulate you for making MOD!!! :) You'll be great.

Hey, thanks SmokinMom. I really appreciate it. I hope I can just give back to this forum like it gives to me...

DL...congrats on the mod

I believe that without violence and discontent you can not have control. A society of free spirited, kind, loving, people do not need the governing body nor the system in place today. Remove that governing body and you will remove multi billion corps running this country, politicians with personal agenda's, and subsequently violence.

I am disheartened by the upcoming election candidates. they all ****. Until we get a viable third party candidate, you will not see legalization of MJ. IMHO

Until people realize....F the government, and that starts with old fashioned grass roots bottom up local government. You need a movement, you don't go straight to the top to a power with whom you cannot compete and try to sheet on their doorstep. you need them to look out the window and realize they have just enough time to take hold of their life preserver for the massive Tsunami about to overtake them. People have forgotten they hold the power. Thank the media for that. How long has it been since you've seen a protest of anyform get any public recoginition, whether good or bad?

Now get involved some how some way.....there are many

I'm starting simple, with supporting Community Supported Agriculture. Boycotting everything thats not fair trade, and trying to get to know local influential people who share my same feelings.

Real patriotism is loving your country all of the time, and giving praise to your government when they deserve it. Our F'n government has done nothing of substantial benefit for the people since the sixties. they deserve to be held responsible for that.

Wow...you could rant on this thread forever! Wait til i get stoned tonight!

Watchoutnow...........

roosevelt repealed it mainly because of the rise in organized crime... the black market, bootleggers, speakeasies, al capone, etc.

That's what I figured. I know during the height of "illegal activity" there were some 24,000 people incarcerated for alcohol one year. How many people become incarcerated every year for mj? I bet it is a heck of a lot more the twenty some thousand. Even with the population increase, proportionally, I bet there are many more.

think it was the reaction to the swinging twenties......that made the amendment pass, the twenties saw the rise of the skirt, and so much more come to the thinking masses, like sex and drugs, aslo the world got smaller due to more education and the press/comunication, the nation could not take the rise of the skirt and religion was king back then. the war was over, the boys came home shocked, life became something to be managed, legislation passed to regulate many things then, even the rules of war were written. so the people voted in the prohibition, thinking it would stop loose morals, as we all know crime/violence is what happened. and a stupid idea was finally repealed. hopefully in our life times that will change and we will all be able to grow as the medical marijauna is able to be grown by citizens. and i like my pants baggie, always have and always will. thank goodness i can buy them now...lol.
and thanks for the reply dl, will post my questions in the outdoor area from now on...

No worries tc. Those were two action packed messages right there and it's nice for everyone to see what we are talking about when questions are asked so we can all learn and grow as a group! :48: :farm:
