New grower, need starting advice

Hey! I'm new to the forum, and also to growing, so could I have some advice on starting up?

Mainly, I want to know, can I grow plants right in the ground, or would they be better off in pots. I live on a mountian covered in pine trees, and it would be a perfect place that nobody would ever find, but I'm worried that they would die on the mountain.

Other questions I have:
-how tall should they be before I can harvest buds
-if I don't want to chop down the whole plant like it says on this site, can I just dry small amounts of buds at a time?
-any extra advice for a beginner like me,
-and last, is there anywhere I can get those fun little bags that weed comes in when you buy it? I love those little dimebags.

Look around at headshops, they have neat little tin boxes meant for this, usually with cool design. A lot classier than carrying a bag.

DON'T use bags,
If you are on your way to a friends to share some, then roll a hoober or two ahead of time. If you get stopped along the way you can always eat the evidence, At least you get something outa the deal, but plastic,(yuck), wouldn't want to have to pass that ya know ? Hey also welcome to the site friend, the more active you are , the more fun you will have.
Always remember better safe than sorry. and wear a pocket t-shirt, keep the hoobers in the top pocket for fast access. nuff said on that, have fun.
