I have been fighting a problem with flies. Not white flies, little flies that a plumber buddy called sewer flies. He said with all the rain they have been a real pain in our area and don't feel alone. They have a tiny worm thing that lives in the roots. I tried neem oil soap, on the leaves more that once, like each week like they say but still had them. I was wondering if I would be better off to add it to the res. directly, no soap just some oil. just a little once in a while. It is supposed to screw with there systems. Question is how much in a 20 gal res?? Or will it kill the plants. Thanks for the help :)

If you want neem in your res get some Azamax, it costs the same as neem oil, $20 for 4oz, but it is highly concentrated and formulated to work in hydro systems. Remember with neem it takes time to kill, over time it causes reproductive and other damage to FEEDING insects.

Neem unless directly sprayed on insects wont do any harm, neem only damages feeding and sucking insects, if what you have in your res isnt feeding on your plants it wont kill them. Many insects like the environment your plants are in..

Thanks I'll give em' some time, I just finished and cleaned one run, I'm thinking about prevention too kinda. An ounce of prevention so to speak. thanks for the help.

i use h2o2 in res it kills the larvae effectively

sounds like you have fungus gnats...

azamax in the rez for the larvae, etc..eating the roots

and yellow sticky traps for the flying adults
