Here are some pics of my first indoor grow. Thanks for looking :)

Plants looking fairly healthy and green at this point. These are Cyber Crystal from KC Brains.

2 of my plants have small female preflowers which is good news :) This happened after I switched to 12/12 about one week ago.

Any suggestions or questions are welcome.

My setup is quite basic. The grow light is a 125W CFL. There are two fans salvaged from computers blowing air in and out of the cupboard.

Growing medium is general purpose compost mixed with 1/3 perlite. The plants are fed with Bio-Bizz "Grow" organic food.

Take it easy.... :)

Your plants are looking very nice, very lush and green. However, vegging and flowering have different lighting needs--to get any significant buddage, IMO, you are going to need more/better light. Since your space is small, you might want to check out a 150W HPS to go along with your CFL. It would also benefit you to paint the walls flat white to help reflect some of your light back to your plants.

Thanks Hemp Goddess for the compliments and advice :)

Yes my grow light is fairly weak for flowering, it was all I could afford at the time.
How much does a 150W HPS cost on average?

Yeah, I hear that--sometimes it has to be a pay-as-you-can deal. There is a thread somewhere on a $20 150W HPS. If I run across the link in my journeys, I'll post it. I think they are actually yard lights.

Puffnstuff has a DIY on air cooling a 150W that is really good.

I am still working on a DIY on making a cooltube for a 150W, but unlike Puffnstuff's DIY, mine is only about 1/2 done.

Your girls are so pretty, I just know that they would really show their appreciation by getting bigger and better if you can swing a HPS.

Here is the link to the $20 150W HPS. Change the xx to tt in the address

I bought a 150 from a garden shop and I would like to do this as well but I would have to make a new reflector and have a piece of glass cut to fit. I would really like to know your idea for a cool tube but how would you get a piece of 4in diameter glass?

Sorry for walking on your thread Tripikata nice set up you have there. You can get away with some bud with that set up but like its been said they will lack weight unless you get an HPS lamp. I got my 150HPS at a grow shop for $130 its not like a flood light for outside your house this is a grow light.

Thanks for the compliment Killertea, it's a very basic setup but the plants look alright.

Like you say I really need a HPS for the big buds.

Which bulb type produces more heat for a given wattage, HPS or CFL ?

I don't want it to get too hot in there because my ventilation is quite weak.

Thanks.

Your plants look way better than alright--they really llok great...however...

While CFLs will put out less heat than a HPS, you are making a great sacrifice in yield. i would guess than you can get 2-3 times the yield with a HPS over CFLs. So, if there is any way that you can get the ventilation that you need, it is well worth it to flower with a HPS.

This will need to be tempered. You could probably buy a cheap shield for about the price. JMO.

Ebay has a Sunsystem 150w HPS, with bulb, 2yr warranty for $87 shipped.

FYI.
