any help would be great. i was keeping a male to make seeds then the male hermied on me i was wondering if the pollen is still good. Like if i pollenated one of the females with the hermie would the seeds come out all males? THANKS

hermie's will produce more hermie's, so you don't want to pollinate with that pollen. Sadly there is nothing to be done with your plant other than to kill it.

Sorry to be `Mr. Bean counter` but, your male turned into a hermie, not a female.

Don't forget to chop it

420 peace

:watchplant:

Not a lot of options here...if you are growing any other plants then kill it now before it spreads it's hermified genes...if it is your only plant you cld grow it out and smoke what bud you get from it...

Males dont turn into females...without chemical help...just my thaughts..

Depends on how big your op is and how dedicated you are. You could do this but a vast majority will be hermie or possibly retarded. If this was some magic strain that you absolutely could not lose you could try to breed the plant and plant the seeds hoping for that 1/10, 1/20, 1/50 chance down the line that youll get a healthy male, with strong enough genetic charactoristics to cross with a female w/o the hermie tendencys. As for will they all be male, no. The quality of the pollen is a factor. We dont know if its on plant, this was a week ago, or and of your personal variables.

Hi Zipperz- How you doing?

I was just discussing this topic with someone the other day- the discussion was that had anyone ever seen a male turn hermaphrodite. The answer from most who participated in the discussion that no one ever kept a male long enough.

Do you have any pictures of this plant? And you're sure it was a male plant before it showed female sex traits?

Bottom line- if it's a hermi, then the pollen from it will produce seeds that have the potential to grow into plants that will themselves hermi under the slightest stress.

Again- would love to see pictures. Thanks.

Hmm,well actually males don't turn female but they can hermie although this is automatically thought of as you would a female plant showing male flowers, something to be immediately chucked but I was reading something by DJ Short which says he has personal experience of working with male to female hermies and they are desireable under certain circumstances.

Seed produced with one of these plants as the pollen donor have typically high thc and have high female ratio's in the population and no hermies, this is according to DJ Short and I'm not sure he's interpreted his data correctly but that's an intuitive guess and I may be completely wrong.

But this is actually personally interesting to me as my Cheese x Skunk#1 BX2.0 male has actually thrown out a few pistils after a while in the mother/stud room and the thing is I've used that male for the BX2.0 seed!

So we'll see for sure if a male to female herm is a mirror of it's sister counterpart, meaning am I gonna have hermies in the next generation or will DJ Shorts words ring true?

A pic of a male flower going a bit rainbow flag.:p

Thanks Rockster-

As usual, very thorough and informative post!

Well now, that is very interesting. I never heard of a male turning before. Nice pic! Is that a he/she or a shim? lol

See this thread
and you will discover that:
1) Males can and do hermie.
2) If you use the pollen from it, you will get FEMINISED seed - all or almost all female.

Hermie males have their uses.

And also: NO, using a hermie male will not guarantee hermie offspring! My (feral hermie) male offspring had NO hermies at all and has produced some exceptional smoke. I had better add this: you should use the pollen on strong (no hermie) genetics. Breeding it back to a female from the same line will produce hermies.

Rockster is the smartest stoner alive :) listen to the dude ...hope you dont mind me tuting your horn bro... hahahaha take care

lol... Rockster was asking this same question in another forum not too long ago....;)

I had a male hermi this spring, that I was saving for pollen.....happenstance had it a Blueberry by DJ Short. I have since killed the male, and found out the DJ Short "hand delivered to my Boss" seeds were prolly the same counterfit seeds that were discussed in a thread today. Whew, that was hard to type.
Thank you Rockster for a good answer to the question.

this thread is intense xD .

aint that somethin :48:

A few very well known growers/breeders...not seed makers but breeders think that the male with a female lean are good to breed with. I myself don't agree. I think its multi gender its a hermie and don't think it should be in the genetic pool. Known genotypes consist of
Female
Female intersex (aka hermie that is female dom)
Male intersex
Male
and super male

I've tried to figure out what traits show a "super male" or does it have to be discovered under a microscope...this i been searching for for a couple years with no luck.

It's your call on this male intersex. But any progeny I would run down to at least F3 to see if the hermie trait pops out on females.

:yeahthat:

Im with Mutt/Dawg on this one

take care and be safe

Ive had a male hermie on me and I made a thread about it. I will try to find the thread so you can all see some pics. I cant remember the stain, I think it was either Mental Floss or Blue Mystic. I will go find the thread now.
