Linking to other sites?

Ok so iv notcied alot of people on this web site and a few others say they dont like to link to another site. I know what your talking about, i just dont understand why you dont want to? Is there like internet traps for pot viewers or something? Last time i checked looking, reading or talking about pot isnt illegal. So someone, clue me in on why linking to another site is bad.
