A Albrecht Guest Jul 28, 2008 #2 I'd say you should wait until it's bone dry. Because if it's moist 2 inches down, it'll only be more moist further down where the roots are. Investing in a soil moisture meter for $10 from ebay wouldn't be a bad idea either, just to play it safe.
