One of my favorite hunting rifles was a Remington 22 long rifle. Wasn't anything I couldn't kill with it.
I keep a short Ruger 10/22 in my CRV. It’s my truck gun. Plastic stock, nothing pretty. Have a decent scope on it. I know it’s not legal but we cull out hawks around here. Ever since a hawk tried to kill my cat, I’ve been on the warpath. Right now I’ve been stalking a great big barred owl. It’s killed several of my cousins chickens so far.One of my favorite hunting rifles was a Remington 22 long rifle. Wasn't anything I couldn't kill with it.
Sweet rifle. I wish they'd come out with it in .22 Hornet. Save your brass. You can reload rimfires. I've got the kit. You can even use the kit to re-prime regular primers and smoke pole caps.My father gave me this rifle a few years ago for my birthday. It’s a Czech made .17 caliber rifle. I am very impressed with the quality and accuracy. I’ve hit targets the size of a hawk as far out as 385 yards with it. It’s absolutely lethal to small varmints and up to raccoon size animals. It takes a beaver out too. 17 grain bullet, so small looking. Looks like a mini 30.06 round .
I knew a guy that used to shoot deer with one. But I never wanted to run the risk of a bad shot like that. He would shoot them in the ear. Head shots are tricky. Slightly off target and you wounded a deer, and that’s not right.
For the price, it’s one of the best rifles I’ve ever seen. When I can buy a plastic stock Ruger bolt action for $550, this CZ was about 650. Beautiful wood stock. I can’t find any fit or finish flaw anywhere.
I remember reading that it’s a necked down 22 mag casing.

By the time you pay tax, and the going rate of $50 for the FFL you wind up right about $560. It wasn’t quite $650, but if I have to pay $60 more to support my local gun store I’ll be glad to.
