I drank lots of water but didn't eat the last time I had the flu and developed tachycardia and AFIB. I depleted my blood electrolytes and once they were in balance again, the problem went away.I had a scare yesterday. Woke up the other morning real early and my heart was beating erratically. Checked my blood pressure and it was 207/140. ER trip, was in AFIB until I started get hydrated. Three IV bags and some tests. No stroke. No heart attack. I guess I was more dehydrated than I thought.
While waiting to go to ER I was looking out over the yard at the toys strewn about and all I could think of “I got to live though this, I have two little kids I gotta raise”.
I really thought I might die at first. First three things that trigger afib, alcohol, nicotine and caffeine. So I cut all three completely. Got a cardio appointment in a week or so for more testing. I feel good now but I super paranoid. I’ve been exhausted at work for weeks but I figured it was the summer heat, still losing sleep with the babies at night.
I keep thinking my heart is off then I check it and it sounds good.
I’ll feel better when I see a specialist. Unless I get bad news. Only 36, man I’ve had a rough year.
I’m hoping it was just a symptom and not an issue. Wife tells me she’s seeing dark spots in her eyes and just now said anything. Said it’s getting worse over time. Got an appointment tomorrow. I got a little upset. Been going on a month or so.Sounds like we're brothers from a different mother. I don't like meds. I don't take any meds. I don't like to rely on something I might not be able to get in the future, not to mention where most of 'em come from.
Only time I ever had AFIB was the day they carved the top half of my lung out. After they came running with the crash cart, the next morning the head doctor for cardiology came into my room rather pissed off. She said that the other docs/nurses put me through crap that was useless and that it was completely normal for the heart to react to a four hour operation that took place right next to it. Didn't have it before and I haven't had in since.
I quit in 93. I never think about cigarettes. I do think about smoking weed all day long thoughBeen at least 7 years since I smoked a coffin nail. I only think about them once a day, all day long.
