Looking for my next deer rifle. I’m going old school, my cousin invites me yearly to their fancy hunting club with high dollar rifles. Next year I’ll show up with an old rifle with iron sights and bust one at 200 yards. Looking for an Enfield model 1917. WW1 eta bolt action 30.06
Was going to get a Garand but you can’t shoot modern ammo since it’s too hot. I don’t want the hassle of special loading for one rifle.

I think the 1917 Enfield 30-06 only had four rifling lands. It also cocks on the downstroke, unless you modify it with a kit.

I built a 300 Weatherby Mag on a 1917 action with a Dayton Traister trigger and a cocking kit.

Bro. Cant go wrong with a P 17 Action. I had a High Dolla Gunsmith in Prescott AZ(Chick Manard) put a Douglas Premium, Crowned, Bedded and Floated in 300 WM on a P 17 action. Timney Trigger. 1000 Yard Tack Hammer. 300WM in 150 Gr shoots Flat and Fast inside 400 Yards. Very Impressive Deer Gun. I shot Elk with 180 Gr Springfield, Cheap off the shelf. The Rifle Loved it. I hand loaded everything I could think of, but Springfield 150, 180 and 162 Extended range was what worked best for that Rifle. At 200 Yards sighting in with a Redfield 3x9, cold barrel was 1" right. Next 3 were dead center. .177" from .308" difference in the hole. The Target looked like 2 rounds were fired, there were 4.

I dipped Copenhagen when I first started and then Skoal long cut. When Copenhagen 1st came out it was the only one of it's kind
My grandmother dipped that powder **** and my grandfather chewed Cannon Ball or Bull of the Woods plug tobacco..
Got sick on that plug tobacco when I was a kid.🤪
My favorite chewing tobacco was Redman and or Beach Nut.

You might want to go yo an ER

Good Morning. Spent the day in Wiangsa(The Edge of Civilization). Picked up some Grow Medium and a Bunch of other things for the farm.
What kind of vehicle do you take to haul stuff back from the edge of civilization? Is the edge where the roads stop and the trails start?

Last November....we couldnt make it 500 Meters to the "Hard Road". Flooding surrounded the farm. Our Levy Failed 3' from the top. There was No Goin, No Where.

Isuzu Pick Up Truck and a Suzuki Caribbean. If you can make it 500 Meters to the Freeway(4 lanes Most of the way)
I saw a lot of Isuzu trucks in Japan before they were ever imported to the US. They were everywhere and I understand that they are tough little trucks.

Is the 500 Meters that you have to travel to the four lane all dirt road and does it fall on you to maintain it?
