Because of my history with German Shepherds, I was offered a Mal that was imported from east Germany that the owner could not deal with because of his ball drive. I decided my sanity was worth more than having another wacko dog in my life… that is one breed of dog that needs somebody very competent to be its master or else the dog will be the master himself…
I have experience with the breed from when I was doing schultzhund and streetdog comps.

When I was working with Dutch doing his training, it was out on a schutzhund field and he excelled at every one of the obstacles there… I was more concerned about doing protection work with Dutch then I was schutzhund work… you obviously know the breed so I can’t tell you anything you don’t know… for speed and energy the malinios is a superior dog, but when it comes to brute take down force the German shepherd rules…mals will put you against the wall, a GSD will put you thru the wall… both are excellent breeds

I went from malinois to American Bulldogs for the hardest hits I could find at the time that was still athletic enough to get there.
So many incredible dogs available now days its really a little overwhelming.
Like maybe caucus Mountain dog or a kangal would be better........still undecided right now.

This dog is the Cane Corso that hangs out at the gym that I work out in. The dog is very loving and playful but I’ve seen the other side of him as well and it’s scary… I was far more athletic 10 years ago than I am right now, and I do understand my limitations with dogs that are bigger than myself… I’ll stick with shepherds…

Both the GS and the Malinois are athletic, but the Malinois is lighter weight and able to do some things most GS's can't, like run up vertical walls.

I like the German Shepherd temperament better, and think they are better suited to my own temperament.

I got into a heated discussion with a state trooper who had a Malinios K-9...he thought his dog was the bees knees and got pretty arrogant about it...after words were exchanged I asked him which dog he feared the most when it came to an alley confrontation...he refused to answer...Dutch had a good 35 pounds on the Mal and the Titanium teeth makes for a scary package...

Malinois are about a 75 pound dog and I've seen 150 pound German Shepherds.

Ivan is now 17 months and is taller than Dutch, weighs more and has larger bones...in the next 6 months he'll pack on muscle and bulk up to where he should be...I'm certain he'll hit at least 125 pounds...he still tries to be a lap dog but I've learned to cover the package before letting him attempt to mash my stuff...

Maryjanes breeder sent me a message that Maryjane’s mom was due a new litter in December. She sent me pics of the dad and asked if I knew anyone that was interested. she knows we lost our BB a few months ago so I’ll bet she was just checking to see if we wanted a little sister or brother for MJ. I gotta say it’s tempting…

One of my 16-20 pound fat cats are enough to teach you the cover your balls move.
