Thank ya'll for all your good wishes! An excellent day to enjoy the 41st anniversary of my 39th birthday as well as my 18th year of retirement!

My day got off to a good start with extra time at the dog park, got better with an extra nap, lots of good wishes, presents, fresh vine ripened tomatoes, and Grayfox treated me to dinner out at Tien Hongs with friends.

The Tony Chacheres fish fry finally arrived, so we will be experimenting with fried green tomatoes today, using it as the coating instead of cornmeal and bread crumbs.

SIL with fractured back ready for hospital release and physical therapy as soon as she can achieve a BM, but alas she can't because of all the pain meds she is on....................................

Her husband is also in the hospital with a broken wrist and inability to walk without losing balance and falling.

Their 6 yr old pup Jake is still hanging with us and making himself a new nest. "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with."

I made two of those 50 fargin years ago. Both flint and cap and ball. Sooper fun to shoot. I have no idea where they went. The barrels were blue back then, and oddly, I cannot remember them having ramrods as part of the kit. It musta, but... blank. I do remember them as being .50 cal.

TINS where is Walt Now
I knew pute would straighten y'all out.

And it is Paladin... not Palatine or whatever.

Oh... and you young 'uns fergot Yancy Derringer. Best of all the 50's shows. It wuz set in Nawlins just after the Civil War. He was not a saint like the other TV Western hero types. He was funny and naughtly. Sorta like Clark Gable in "Gone With The Wind, But The War Is Over Now". He was sooper tall. Riverboat Gambler type who goes around cleaning up the bad guys of N.O.

Morning Misfits.
Last day of my so called vacation.😭😭😭
Oh well. That's life. Hopefully I will hear something tomorrow or Tuesday about the job I interviewed for. Hope I get it,,but if not I will be fine. The three ppl I interviewed in front of liked me and said so. They just had to confirm with the owner who was out of town at the time.
Fingers 🤞.
Hope my Cowboys win tonight. 1st game of the season. We usually beat the Giants but ya never know. Yehaaaaaaaaaa 🤠
Walt I don't pay much attention to statistics because there are so many variables when it comes to statistics about humans.
Lifestyle comes in many forms. Smoking, drinking, exercise, good or bad food and habits. DNA and many other things. My great great grandfather lived to be 99 and had smoked prince Albert since he was 7yrs old and ate nothing but fried foods most the time. Makes no fking since.
So who the fk knows. You and many others are proof that that statistic doesn't hold water.
Averages don't work with so many variables especially when it comes to the Human anatomy,, not to mention medications and science and again lifestyle.
It's kinda like a poll. It's all about who is in that poll and what questions your asking.

Congratulations all over your ole self!

You now represent 0.21 percent of the male population. The other 99.79% did not make it yet (if they do, that is). And most of them don't stand a chance.

"The overall average life expectancy for men born today is down from 74.2 to 73.5"

You are, at this very moment, six and a half years out of warranty.**

** I'm ten years out of warranty... 🧙‍♂️
Thanks brother! Prima facia evidence suggests that it isn't all nurture, or my body wouldn't be so beat up.

I can't say it is my genes, because I'm setting new longevity records for male childs in my family.

Maybe karma to experience the joy of a time of life not gifted to all, at the price of increased pain, with lower physical prowess and mental acuity.

As you note, the average lifespan for an American male is falling. I remember when it was 78.

Another statistic is that for those who reach average expiration date, the probability of them living another decade increases because of the way statistics work, with the weaker brothers and sisters drastically lowering the average having been weeded out at that point.

As the most ancient in our merry band of misfits from the hoary days of yore, to what to you attribute your longevity brother?

My Dad died at 36 with a heart attack.
I am 67. I did have a heart attack but I was 57 and had a strong heart just some fked up arteries. Lifestyle and circumstance. I was close to a hospital and he wasn't.
Again,,,lots of variables brothers. I don't trust such a statistic. Most everyone I know have died in their 80s. My Mom was 79 and died of Lung Cancer not old age. My Wife's mother was 81 and died from an infection she got in the hospital.
My Father as I said above died at 36 with a heart attack. He was the youngest of 12 children. His sister the second youngest died in her 80s. So there we go again with lifestyle and variables.
Another words, statistics or just that. Another fking poll number where nobody knows who was polled.

My dad died at 55 in a car accident, but he was in poor physical shape and neither of his brothers reached 80. Their generation grew up during the Great Depression, so didn't have the best nutrition or medical attention growing up.

Statistics being what they are, when you add the dead at birth and infant mortalities, as well as deaths by accident or major diseases that have nothing to do with potential longevity, you lower the average. It would be lower yet were it not for those living into their 90's and 100's.

For instance. If you take a group of a 100 Men who all smoke, eat bad foods, and don't exercise and follow them untill they die there numbers would be totally different than a group of 100 men who didn't smoke, ate good food and exercised that group would of course live longer. It's all about who and how they calculated their stupid statistic.
