My mom used to send my dad a carton of cigarettes once a month. After the third month, he wrote her back and said not to bother. He never got any. I'd tell ya why he hated the Red Cross, but there's some on here that would call me a liar.
Dad had little good to say about the Red Cross during WWII either.
The Koreans make it, too. They call it kimchi. If you want your sauerkraut to taste exactly like kimchi, take a leak in it to help it ferment.
I like Kimchi, but never heard about the urinating in it part. My recipe actually skipped that key ingredient:

KIMCHI (BAECHU KIMCHI)

3 tablespoons coarse salt

1 head Napa cabbage, halved lengthwise (2 ½ to 3 pounds)

3 cloves garlic, cut into slivers

6 green onions, cut into 3-inch pieces, plus 2 green onions, thinly sliced

¼ pound Korean radish (muu), peeled and julienned plus 6 to 8 ¼-inch thick, peeled round slices (divided)

2 tablespoons fish sauce (nuoc mam or nam pla)

3 tablespoons Korean red pepper powder

3 tablespoons hot water

Gooode morning brothers and sisters! Merry 4-20! Those of you still working, consider National Drug Test Day on 4-21............

More rain, starting at 36F.

A good luncheon yesterday with the old crew! Only five of us showed up and many of those we missed and talked about are now dead, with the oldest attendee 89 years old.

Hee, hee, hee, I got an email notifying me that another batch of complementary D-9 THC0 gummies are headed my way for testing, sized at 100 mg each.

Good morning GW. Glad I don’t have to worry with 4/21 anymore. Glad your sauerkraut turned out. I’ve never attempted making it before but I do remember likening my moms much less than the store bought. (Her pickles too yuck) 🤪 We ate a lot of it when I was a kid. I have it a few times a year now but buy the stuff in the clear bag sold in the meat department at my market.
Are the D-9 THC0 gummies the same as your last batch only stronger? Or perhaps a different THC component? I didn’t pay attention to the D-9 THC0 thing last time. Your source is right on time with the gummies thing. If they are planning on marketing them, they should do well as they are the only gummies so far that I trust. And although it took me 7 to feel the vibe from them and enjoy the different cannabis, I know that just one made my moms legs weak and her head dizzy after the first time only doing a half had no effect. It did make her sleep really well as she took a long nap and then woke up feeling “normal” again (her words). I think it was too much for her so she gave them back to me saying they were not her thing. I think this is good data for me tho and for the chef making them.
have a great day, gonna try to work my tents this morning as I didn’t get to it yesterday but did dig some starter holes for my outdoor plants. I have a couple weeks to get that dirt right for them. 💕

Good morning all you Cool Cats

off to consult on a hot water install , then its off to the big city for my follow up from oral surgery Tuesday

should be back home by supper , a 2 1/2 hour drive one way

gonna stop by the store on the way in to get some flowers for the staff cause they had to put up with me whilst i was under anesthesia

apparently i bit a few people who had their fingers in my mouth , told a few off color jokes not for everybody , and had a small bladder problem and had to change my scrubs

of course i do not recall any of this so no one can hold it against me , the nurse told me on the phone yesterday that its all good and i was a mild patient compared to past experiences , apparently some violent reactions that make mine look nice hahahhahhaa!

but i will bring flowers anyway , and i will tell them they were on sale , the Bladder Bouquet Special

but first moar coffee!

Same here. He had a racket selling American cigs, which were a high demand.

Not me. I was laying unconscious in a GI horsepistol, and got my month's pay stolen. And the Red Cross left me toothpaste, toothbrush, razor, and shaving cream.

And charged me for those items out of my next pay.

How the sauerkraut turns out will be decided in about seven days. So far it just sits there and looks pretty.

I'm not a sauerkraut afficionado, but have noticed some is better than others. I used a German recipe that basically calls for shredding the cabbage and adding 1.5 to 2.0% percent salt.

One of the key requirements for the German recipe was that the salt be thoroughly mixed with the cabbage by hand kneading for up to 10 minutes or long enough to bruise all the cabbage. I then crammed it into a sterilized half gallon wide-mouth and topped it with 1.5% saline solution. It suggest one to three weeks brewing, depending on how sour you want it.

My Kimchi recipe by contrast, has a lot more ingredients, but only takes 24 to 48 hours ........................

The 10 mg D-9 THCO gummies are basically the same but for potency and flavor. THC-O is produced from THC using the same process as used to make aspirin or heroin. It ostensibly likewise increases the potency.

One of the reasons they gifted me with the first batch was that they were rejects from a flavor standpoint. Ph is critical in maximizing natural fruit flavor and those were outside their standard, sooo they gifted them to me and others, with a promise that we would not reveal which lab they came from.

Now that they are more closely dialed in, this batch is ostensibly more flavorful and sized for my personal tolerance. They didn't say what flavor they were this time, so I will be surprised.

Sorry to hear your mom wasn't impressed, and a good thing you started titration at half a gummy.

I've seen it go both ways and a couple of the best ones were when a friends family started adding tincture to their mother-in-law's morning drink and she became enough more pleasant to be around that the grandchildren started to visit again.

The best was a woman who in hospice who had arrange for death with dignity the following day. One of our patients shared some of our Holy **** Oil with her.

When she arrived, she was morose and dejected and after about 30 minutes became antimated and chatty, regaling good time spent in her youth, until she finally dozed off.

When she awoke four hours later, the first words out of her mouth was, "That was amazing!"

The second was to call for the nurse to contact her doctor and cancel her Death-With-Dignity. She continued to use the Holy **** Oil and continued to improve, until she finally moved out of Hospice and into her son's home with family.

Alas about two weeks later, she died of heart failure in her sleep, but her enthusiasm for life was dramatically improved for the time she had left.

When the Old Man got his big hit and was in the hospital, they took the price of the pints of blood they replaced out of his paycheck. He was making $44 a month combat pay. He'd laugh at anyone asking for donations to the Red Cross. My mother, in the mean time, was cutting threads on Norden bomb sights at AC and passing out on the shop floor because she was donating too much blood.

Good morning Islanders. Happy 420 to everyone.

Here's a question that only Walt would know; What American city banned the use of the word "sauerkraut" during WWII? They changed it to "liberty sauce".
Unca Walt dunno. Liberty Cabbage was sauerkraut. But recently, if you remember, french fries became "freedom fries".

That name din' stick either.

Folks just don't know the venality of the Red Cross.

Those were some good stories. 🥰
