Question
Have you ever checked your Blood pressure right after getting up?
Mine is close to 140/80 and after sitting for 5mins it drops to 126/78ish
I looked it up and it says most have lower BP right after waking.
I am just wondering what others find who monitor theirs?
Not sure where you read that, but I call BS.

Mine is always higher when I wake and that is a common enough issue that some doctors recommend taking your BP meds when you go to bed at night. A disproportionately high percentage of heart attacks are early morning.

It has to do with the blood vessels relaxing at night and BP dropping like after smoking weed.
It is considered normal to see a lower pressure right after waking so they say.
I agree with what you are saying and I even changed my pills to one at bedtime without Doc knowing, It helped . He told me I did good (LOL) by changing my med times .
We are our own Doctors .

Thats excactly what the article i posted for Roster says.
And yes heart attacks happen a lot of times early in the morning. The one that sent me to the hospital in 2013 where i ended up getting open heart surgery was early in the morning. The one that got me a stent was in the morning but not as early as the bad one.
Your BP drops at night and goes back up a few hours before you awake.

my heart jumped a little this morning

Experts recommend not to take your blood pressure immediately after waking up. Rather, you should wait for at least 30 minutes after waking before you take a BP reading.
Food and caffeine

Both food and coffee can increase your blood pressure. Ideally, you should take your morning blood pressure after you have brushed and showered but before you've had your breakfast.
