Man I miss the days of friends working on their cars together in my Mom's driveway
All of us helping each other, pulling an engine and swapping in a newer wreck recovery one took less than a day sometimes even hrs.
Man I miss those days of dirty, greasy, and grimy, bathtub ring days.

I finally put my last motor out for my scrapman
I had a 351 put down in garage for yrs, New pistons rods etc............
Had to say Im done with rebuilding. Still sad the day we loaded her in his truck.
He was happy, and put some food on Jose table.

My Avalanche has over 328,000 miles and still running strong. I change the oil every time it looks a little dark. I don't wait for 3000 miles.

That does bring back fond memories, though some were tedious at the time.
Sadly, after thinking back to who I had fun doing it with growing up, I realized I've outlived all of them that I've been able to keep track of and I no longer derive as much joy from it.
Probably most fun was dreaming and scheming about what we could make out of the pieces of s.hit we had to work with.

I did twist bolts before I got into sales. I did not have the right temperament to be a tech. Hated working flat rate....so I went to 100% commission..... If you had the gift of gab it was a living.

A web find, but the first scooter that I built had a two-cylinder, 2-cycle Maytag washing machine engine on it.
I have ring compression tools that may help find the right size

and I bought them...
I would take a stringray bike and remove rear wheel then using another spare same size rim I took all the spokes out along with spindle (just rim left). I would then take short bolts and drill and bolt the spare to the good rim (after removing tire and tube) so that the extra rim created a drive track in which the drive belt could ride without falling off. tire and tube back on and remount.
Then came mounting the engine, stretching on correct size belt, little choke and a push start is all you needed . NO BRAKES ...................
I always found making and figuring out how to build things was much more enjoyable when the finish product was in my hands being used , A PRIDE Thing
