Hey everyone, first time grower but I've tried to do as much research as possible. I have a 3-bubble bucket set-up in a 4x4x6'7" reflective tent (the Homebox XL). The sources I looked at earlier suggested a 400w HPS would be fine for both vegetation and flowering, but many on this site suggest more (especially for flowering)
I was going to purchase another Homebox XL so I have one for flowering and one for vegetation. From my understanding, HPS systems can support MH bulbs, and vegetation doesn't need as much light as flowering. So 400 W should be sufficient for vegetation (accounting 20-30 W per sq. foot) if I equip that with a MH bulb, and then buy a 1000 W HPS system for the flowering room. (This should be adequate for 50W-60W per sq. ft. The 400W light is so bright its hard for me to believe it wouldn't be sufficient for my operation, but I of course trust those of you who are experienced. Does this sound like the right plan of thinking, or am I missing something? If I try to flower my 3 plants with 400 W HPS (I might not be able to afford another room and lights for a bit), should I expect pretty shoddy results?
Also, once I get the second grow room, my over-all setup would be...
1. Propogate clones in something like this, with a box or lid over to maintain humidity and heat. I figured I could have this box in my vegetation room.
2. Vegetate for 4-6 weeks under 400W MH (if my thinking above is correct).
3. Move plants to flowering room for 1000W HPS light cycles and start new clones in vegetation room.
4. After 6-8 weeks of flowering, clones should be done vegetating, so I could move those to the flowering room.
5. Let product dry 2 weeks inside vegetation room, while clones are growing.
/\---------- I figured this would be smart, as if I have the clones in a box, they would have their own light-filled, high humidity microenvironment, while the drying buds would still be in the dark and fairly cool. And since flowering takes longer than vegetation, (6-8 weeks vs. 4-6 weeks), drying inside of vegetation room instead of flowering room would be more efficient (I think).
This is the best I can think of, please let me know what your thoughts and suggestions are. Sorry for the long post, but I'm investing a lot of time and money so I want to make sure I do it right!
