Hey everyone! Quick about me. Getting back into growing after being out of the game for about 15 years. Just wrapping up my outdoor summer grow and taking cuttings from those girls to try and get some clones going. They were planted from seed in the dirt may 1. These things grew like crazy! We didn't have the best growing season due to a record setting heat wave and some huge wildfires that blocked out the sun for a couple weeks, but all things considered im really happy with my first real outdoor grow.

Cloning - something I never got the hang out so here are the steps I followed.
Cut at 45 degree angle, straight into cup of water to avoid air bubbles forming. Frayed cut ends and dipped generously in rooting gel and placed in jiffy pucks.

Now they sit in a water tray on top of some untreated lumber to keep them out of the water with a couple planters over top of them to hopefully replicate a greenhouse affect. Doing my best to redneck a clone dome here, what you all figure? The tall cuttings were taken on sept 23rd and shorter ones taken on sept 24th. They seem happy so far but obviously still super early. Temps so far range from 60-80 F and they are on an 18/6 light schedule. Digital thermometer shipped from Amazon today

The indoor - built this box to have 2 seperate chambers. Each chamber is 36x36x69"ish. Left chamber will eventually be the veg/clone side with right side chamber being for flowering. Currently running 1 600w vivarspectra led at 18/6 for the clones. I have a second 600w led I might throw in during flower and get another one for the veg side.

Open to any and all suggestions, especially about cloning cause I'm a total newbie there! Thanks for stopping by folks

I have one I made from Homer bucket and a spray bar system inside the bottom of bucket.
This attached to pump under it.

Very cool! I read somewhere that root development benefits from the dark period while clones are trying to take root. Is this not the case or is the 24/0 vs 18/6 more a matter of preference when rooting clones?

I’m not sure about that, I heard people doing it with different light cycles and being successful both ways. So probably a preference thing.
But I do know 24 hrs works. I usually have roots around 7-14 days.

hey your plant looks healthy ..do you know any details on its genetics?.....


forget the jiffy pucks and get some rapid rooters.....

also , don’t forget to cut the tips off most of your fan leaves , this causes the plant to produce more hormones to heal its injury and in so doing helps produce roots

be sure and pre-soak your rapid rooters in some water that has a Ph somewhere between 5.5 and 6.5

after I prepare my clones they go in a rooting tray with a dome and if it is winter time I put a heating mat under my tray......it is very important to keep your roots warm , around 73-78

i also use a sparky bottle and I spray a mist on the inside of the dome to keep the humidity up inside the dome.......

don’t get the rapid rooters to wet but don’t let them dry out either..

I had some damping off issues with the rock wool and the jiffy pucks are crap , i had some that were infested with root aphids and that caused some early and unnecessary problems

but yes , I do have to check the rapid rooters every day

Thanks for that detailed reply much appreciated! I will get some rapid rooters and make sure to cut the tips off the fan leaves when I get home tonight, if it's not too late to do the trim at this point?

Looking forward to seeing if these guys take to root with my current redneck set up. Trying to avoid spending more right now after spending a small fortune on lumber!

That being said I look forward to improving/learning more about cloning techniques! All advice is much appreciated!

Genetics - all I know is they were pink kush seeds my partner bought me from a govt store.

Good morning! Update for today. The redneck clone done project failed utterly. Seeds are in the mail for the new grow. Will properly invest in a cloner next attempt! Now for the goodies! The big chop is coming for these girls, trying to hold off till next Friday since my weekends are Friday/Saturday.

It's that time! I really forgot how much work this part is LOL. Having a blast doing it though, it's a true labor of love. Harvested buds are currently hanging in the dark side of my green house hanging out at around 62 F.

Should I place a small fan in with the drying buds to keep some air moving?

Side note - I started picking apart the cuttings in the red neck clone dome in search of roots (expecting and finding nothing for 6/8 cuttings) BUT 2 cuttings just beginning were to grow roots, so in a panic I dipped them in rooting gel again and back in they go. My clone dome absolutely needs some tweaking but it's super encouraging to know I was on the right track!

Some take longer than others to grow roots, if you say you saw the start of roots you should mhave just let them finish. Not sure what the rooting gel will do now. Good Luck, keep us advised.

Yeah I'm not sure what to expect now either. I was sure they had withered and died but oh well lesson learned moving forward I must have more patience and trust the process!

I took 2 clones out of spite, both went well but I only chose the strongest, I’m testing it with a seedling in my flower room because I’m all about thresh hold and what my girls can do!
