Yeah, that's wht could be coming to a restaurant near you, horses are now being used as guide animals for the handicapped. Now, I'm all for the handicapped having what they need and all and am not against guide animals in any way...but try to imagine sitting down to a nice meal when all of a sudden the horse beside you decides it's done with it's previous meal...plop plop plop....

Not in my town. Horses not allowed in the city.

I watch horse racing all the time and the horses drop equine bombs everywhere. Sometimes I wonder if horses even realize that they are dropping a load.

It's Whiskey for me and Beer for my horse:p he likes his grains malted

If I heard the news story correctly, govt is either considering a law or already has a law in place making businesses (and communities) accept the horses.

No Roddy your area must be zoned for horses. I know, I grew up in Horse Town, USA; (serious about the title ).

Within a city there is usually no horse trails, no feed stores, short fencing, noise laws...etc...smell and hygienic issues arise when so many people live so close (in a city) and certain animals are limited or banned.

Chickens, for example, are allowed in my city limits. But only 10 per acre, wings must be clipped, and no roosters (noise/breeding reasons). In the county I grew up in (horse capital) there was a 30 per acre limit.

But in a city a horse could not walk on pavement constantly, would tear up grass easements, there are no horse trails to absorb the droppings and no one is gonna clean it up, and neighbors in close living conditions would not like a horse in the 3rd floor apartment.;)

:D "Not in my town Cowboy!" hahahaha

If the animal is a trained Service Animal they have to allow it into any place a Seeing Eye Dog is allowed. Their is a guy here in WV that has a mini horse trained to help him get around in his wheelchair and he is allowed everwhere.

I just could not see a business accomodating for a horse. For the safety of most people, say i was a resturant business owner, I would deny a horse entry for the safety reasons alone. I know if a guide dog barks or growls then you can deny the animal access.

Building codes don't account for a ton horse, you'd break through in my raised floor house

These are companion animals just like the guide dogs for the blind etc. They won't be subject to the same laws and regulations as normal animals and will indeed be treated as the dogs (i.e. let in everywhere a guide dog would be allowed...which is generally everywhere). In the news article, they showed the lady loading her mini horse in the back of her mini-van and heading off to the store...or restaurant or whatever.

The news anchor-lady reported that she had recently dined in a restaurant (in NYC...I presume) where a blind lady had a mini-horse. Said that she talked with the lady and found the horse to be more stable than a dog. The reasoning for the horse is because some people are allergic to dogs or afraid or what have you.

These are mini-horses, fit in the back of a min-van...but I agree. How can they force a private business to allow a horse and who is gonna clean up after it? The waiter?? I can't see it.

I forgot, the lady they were following around even had sneakers for her horse, put them on it during the segment...not sure if they were Nike or Reebok LMAO

IDK, I got the biggest laugh when the lady opened the hatch and put the little guy in her mini-van...crazy! Definitely not something you'd expect to see when driving down the highway...
