Does our local fire dept have the ability to in their spare time or on request of leo have the ability to detect our indoor grows?

you can get your whole house checked for energy saving costs with same equipment.

only if they have 411 on your grow. i.e. someone reported you. They can't go around willy nilly (yes, I said willy nilly) and point their FLIR anywhere. That's including the fire dept.

e/ i don't feel comfortable being legal tbh. and big grow ops suck up elc. regardless of light cycles. just wondering what the likely hood of this in town where all cops do is hand out parking tickets.

in US. ya this towns pretty tight cops and town are in same building. I was asked by the meter guy what's going on here. I responded nothing and he said good. Asked what he was doing and told me confirming meter reading. I know they do not do this manually here.

again i have my papers and copy of town warrant with artical allowing in town personal growing banning for one year grow ops and any type of related establishment. while the state works thing out. we are supposed to register with teh state but... do u really want them knowing where and what u are up to.

paper trails are never good imo/ime. I've used a 1000watt hps and 400 watt hps/mhconv for years and not one problem. Heck I've never even SEEN the meter dude/dudette...lol...

Interesting though cuz I live in can. I usually hear of stupid people getting busted. 2-3-5 houses in a row. But no one lives there. Windows blacked.
Or stealing power. But 5-10 plant grows I rarly hear of.

ya but if you have 100 homes lets say all duplex splits all same sq ft. you can get an average pretty easy of that area and see the persons bill that is 2x the rest of the 100 are ofc up to some thing

If you don't take a chance you'll never know. I've been growing for 15 yrs now and never encountered a problem. Mostly because I tell know one, including family...

The power company does not care if you are using 2x the power of your neighbor as long as you pay your bill. They are in the business to sell power. There are a thousand reasons that your power could run 2x the neighbors--for instance, a hot tub will cost more to run than a couple of grow lights.

In addition, the power company does not manually inspect bills to see that your power bill is significantly higher than someone elses. Regardless of the stories we have all heard about someone getting busted because their power bill went up....well I have not been able to verify a single one.

must admit, i do worry about these 'smart meters' they have now though (y'all got them yet? they got pushed hard on us the last year)

maybe not so much worry, but with them showing not just how much power you use, but exactly when you used it.. makes me a bit uncomfortable knowing the 12/12 switch is showing quite obvious now.
i don't expect them to turn customers in, but i know it'd be much easier to trace now.

fire dept cannot use flir system at will anytime, especially to detect mj grows. they use them to indicate hot spots, (after) a fire has been put out. anyone pointing a handheld at your home will need a warrant to do so...(outlaws not included) ie, fire, rescue, ems, police...
