How much light??

Hi yall, I am growing in my closet that is 4 L x 2 W x 7 H. Would a 400 watt metal halide work in this size of room? Or do i need to get something bigger? Any advice would help. Thanks.

5,000+ lumens per sq. ft. is ideal, the more the better.

find square footage: 4'x2'=6sqft

6sqftx5000(the optimal amount of lumens needed to grow mj)= 30,000 lumens

400mH gives out around 39,000 so you should be good.

Square footage: 2x4=8ft^2.
8 x 5000= 40000 lumens.
Your 400 HM might be a tad low in lumen output, but a 400 HPS would be perfect for that size.
