ive just put down a crop of AK47 they were al struck from a previous crop that was fine turned out very well. but after 3 weeks they are atarting to develop male sex organs i was wonderig if the male flowers on a hermaphrodite are inert or will they pollinate the rest of my crop? also what causes a plant to turn hermaphroditic even when they have been cloned from a perfectly healthy female plant?

They will pollinate; get rid of them. you can still flower the plants though, but you will need to keep a very close eye on the ladies.

Plants can be genetically hermie, they can be chemically induced to become hermie, or environmental factors can signal the plant to turn hermie to continue it's life cycle.

Actually all female marijuana plants carry the genetics that are responsible for hermaphroditic traits. Its the amount of stress needed to induce the hermie trait that differs from plant to plant. Even "true female" plants carry the hermie gene. Otherwise nothing would happen when you chemically force them to hermaphrodite. Without the genetic "blueprints" so to speak they wouldn't be able to produce the male flowers.

What changed in this grow from your last grow? Did they get their light cycle messed with. Or maybe you nute burnt them or sent them through some PH swings?

Feminized seeds are actually created from hermies...but they also have higher chance of hermie...
