Good day, fellow growers! It has been quite some time since I have posted - so let me provide a garden update:
The seeds I found in the dispensary bud resulted in both becoming males... I think there was a temperature difference between the "Incubator" (lol) and the tent, which stressed them. Or, could have been a toss up just like bag weed seeds. Anyways, I made some improvements and upgrades to the environment, and got some new equipment for the tent!
Next thing I did was purchase some feminized seeds online (buy 3, get 3 free). The strain I am working with is Sleepy Joe OG, an 80/20 indica dominant hybrid crossing Obama Kush x Nova OG. The THC content can reportedly "reach up to 34%", if cared for properly.
So, I put 2 in a wet paper towel, stuck it in a ziplock baggie and placed it in the dark. A few days later, they popped with a 1/2 inch tap root and I put them in 1 gallon plastic pots. I used the white acrylic paint again, to make the outside of the pots more reflective. Fast forward 2 weeks, and they have both broken ground.
Since winter is coming upon us here in the Midwest, I placed an electric radiator-style heater next to the grow area to help regulate the temperature. I also got a 2-plug timer for the LED lights and the fan, and run it 18/6 with the on cycle starting at 6 am.
But the linchpin is when I went to a Cannabis retail fair, where growers from all over Missouri brought their crafted products to sell - which included some live clones as well
so, I grabbed a 15" teen of GMO strain, an almost pure-indica hybrid (90/10) made by Girl Scout Cookies x Chemdawg (28%THC). "Garlic, Mushroom and Onion" strain needs a warm and humid temp, 70-80 degrees. My Incubator box stays at 74 degrees with the fan blowing during the day. At night, a heating pad on warm setting placed in the back maintains it that temp through the 6 hour slumber.
She is now 18" and ready to put into the flowering tent. She will only get about 3-4 feet tall in full flower mode, so the yield will not be huge. Now, this strain is known for being very pungent (while growing and smoking it), so I ordered an inline air filtration system made specifically for this grow tent! In about 10 weeks, I hope to harvest a nice batch of sticky stinky stuff, covered in glistening trichomes!
I will keep you posted ~ Jagwire
P.S. - my camera is lost somewhere, but I will get pics as soon as it turns up, lol
