Heating pad for clones...

Fellow Growers,


My clones have been doing poorly. Finally, I realized that it is wintertime!
I put the heating pad under the cloner and they are already happier.

Luckily, the only strain from outside the U.S... I have kept four plants as 'backup'.
There are only four Oregon Grown OG and if they don't come back I can at least buy seeds.
The Sour Bubble too. Of which there is only one plant. {she's fine}

Little plants like warm weather.
How could I have not noticed 'lack of heat' was at the root of my poor clones problem .


A simple solution.

The clones are still 'hanging in there'.
All the Satori died, but remember... I have 4 extra plants, mothers.
Only one Oregon grown OG is alive, {I should have kept extra OG mothers}
The OG looks good and if it makes it...
{the OG's are very uniform like peas in a pod...
so clones of only one plant is alright and I won't have to buy seeds,
but I am stupid not to have kept extra mothers!

I have 6-8 Sour Bubble clones and it is too early to tell, but the heating pad really helps.

Just watch the temps. If you don't keep an eye on them it could easily kill the clones.

Hamster is right. I find that a folded dish towel between the mat and tray improves the temperature situation. Warm, but not as warm as the mat gets, being designed for seedlings in dirt with no dome over them.

Y'all are right about the towel!
It was too hot in there.
The Sour Bubbles all laid down and died so I took 6 more clones
and placed a towel over the heating pad and under the tray.
The new 6 Sour Bubbles are standing up and are fine.

The OG is still hanging in there!
Tough as a boot, and healthy as a hog the OG is,
and she grows like Kudzu!
Oregon Grown OG... my favorite strain.
I'll raise her for a clone mother and now I don't have to buy seeds.

My three strains, the Satori, the OG, and my new strain Sour Bubble...
are all alive and kicking... doing well.
So, everything is good.

Update...


Better but not real good either.
The single OG is not real green and loosing 'greenish color' every day.
She has been through a lot. All the Satori died and she was laying down about dead when I added the towel. The OG is however tough, she may make it.
The 6 Sour Bubble are 5 now. Two look fine, two others are sagging a bit, they may perk up, and the last one was taken real small.
She is very small but still trying.

Its the middle of winter. My cloning skills as well as 'seed sprouting' skills can't be that bad.
Its just cold.
My feet are cold now and it is a relatively nice day outside.
I've already made plans to buy more OG seeds.
{I should have kept live plants}

The scale is about gone.
The four Satori mothers and the Sour Bubble mother are in the last of the old dirt and it will be replaced in a couple of days.
Also I'll get some scale medicine while I am getting new soil.

Wish the 5 Sour Bubble clones luck.
They will all be mothers when they get bigger.

Are you using a rooting gel or powder? It helps speed things up significantly. I make sure my Mother plant is nice and green before taking cuts. This way they have less chance of yellowing while waiting for roots. This run I used both. Dipped them in gel than in powder.

It must just be the colder weather.

I still can't get cloning down...
I'll have a run where all 16 clones never root and die slowly and then a run where all root. Sometimes it seems like the heat mat make the water evaporate way too fast and they either dry up if I'm not checking them daily or I put to much water in to compensate and they don't like that either. Can't win!
