Let's get back to the purpose of this thread.....once again, THANKS to all who served!

It wasn't very nice to play the race card. Not sure what being black has to do with this topic at all.

Men of all colors have died protecting America. BTW America has freedom of religion and freedom from religion.

Thanks to those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice.

Be havin my own beliefs here and can say that in passing when folk who realy dont be knowin each other and conversin through a e-mail type communication things can be takin wrong or construde and understood wrong to others quite familiur. I have respect for dman and valued his fireside meny time as well as all of yu I have come to know and respect. If yual look to the true meaning that started this thread be bout "FREEDOM" and the choice to chose ones own trail. Guess what pilgrem everone becomin just that pilgrems!!!! people comin over seas to live here we goin there to live there , we faught for this right to unit and become one, but we soon relize that folk from afar can be doifferent and we start to judge because the different. DONT! We all be different and we all have our own beliefs and we are learning to respect the differnce between us and our nieghbours. If someone does or says something yual didnt like or took offence we must still take time to stand back and evaluate the situation and take a look at ones self to determine what is the society norm in the situation and maybe just maybe we find ourselves bein to judgemental or treading on a belief of another that has every right to believe as they wish. Thats called freedom and why we worship the day in the U.S. as well as Canada just differnt days. This is what we wanted and our fathers wanted to be free to be who we are. We are all different no matter how yual look at it. Please learn to see the deeper understandin before pullin blade and drawin blood from someone yual truely dont know tell yual understand the differnet trail folks walk time to time but guess what? Its just that there trail not ours. I walk mine and will without folk tellin me to change it becuae I wont! Its the trail I walk as me and walk as I please. Love and respect to all here I mean no side taken nor do I take one. Just wanted to open eyes and show life to short pokin at each other for silly. Thats how wars get started we fought for no more war and to now have freedom.

Enjoy fireside pilgrem love and respect

I'm thinking of all veterans today past and present. Thank you for serving our country. Freedom isn't free.

(don't know if there's anything "happy" about memorial day tho and the title of this thread irritates me somewhat.)

But thanks to all who served.

Ah, but there is a HAPPY part, my friend....for me at least (and I'd guess there are others that see it the same). The happiness for me is that it brings us all closer to our loved ones even if for a sad remembrance. The happiness is in the time (and often courage) it gives for those who would otherwise rarely talk about a lost one to open up and share memories with those who may never have even met the loved one! It's family time, a time to bond and to THANK!

I was always taught to keep the good memories and not be sad....sure I have shed my tears, but it's the good memories, the good times and the good friends that will help me to make it to tomorrow!

I understand what you're saying, it's different for others....hope my explanation helps for you to understand my view!

Spear i didnt know you were black so with all this equal equality stuff and me being a ****** i must be wrong and you must be right.
I wasn't going to say anything but this really made me uncomfortable.

1. Most black Westerners don't think this way. I certainly don't.

2. There is nothing wrong with equality.

3. Most black English-speakers don't use the slur "wh--ey". That word hasn't been widely used (at least not in the USA) since the 80s.

This is all I am going to say and I won't read any more of this thread. I have no idea what the poster intended but I didn't want readers to think that the majority of black people have an "I'm right you're wrong" mentality, especially not on this forum. Certainly there are individuals and groups who do but they don't speak for most of us.

I have always look at this touchy subject but one way and one way only as I grew ups. Ifin it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it be a duck regardless of its markings as a man walks like a man and talks like a man must be a man no matter dressed in shorts and a t or dress to the 9s. I caught big bass in me lake long side big pickrel and once they be sizzlin in the same fryin pan they all taste like fish so they are "fish" even though the two kind look different still fish at the end of day. I have respect for all here

Memorial Day is not to honor the living it is a day set aside to remember those that have Died for their country!! the Greek started it 2500 yrs ago, the US named it Memorial day During the Civil War. Veterans Day is for the living men and women that served their Country and I thank each and everyong of them for fighting for Our Freedom.

Would it make you all mad to know that when I say "My thoughts and Prayers are with you" that the Prayers are to Apollyon and beelzebub?

Remember "Ain't No Halo over anyones head. I don't give a damn what your "good" book sayes

thank you for that ozzie. :) It ain't about black or white or about religious beliefs or politics. If it was, it wouldn't be discussed her ;)

THANK YOU... ALL who served their country.

See... Thats fine... Thats not what I was saying at all...

As d said a couple of times... "I saw others post _____ so blah blah"

Its not about what he said. Its why he felt the need to say it. A day to honor our fallen. He felt more of a need to express his own feelings towards other matters than to the fallen. I felt he did it just to be contradictory to others. Which is a petty thing to do.

I was in Nam a good long while. I saw boxes loaded with blacks whites spanish atheist jewish catholic and whatever else loaded on planes. Regardless of which they were, they were willing to put themselves in that box for us. And they are all my brothers whom I am very proud and ever grateful for.

So do I take offense when such a petty statement took priority over my fallen brothers... Well. Yes I do.
And if it wasnt Ds attempt at meaning as such or doing so. Then all apologies to him. Cause like BWD has mentioned. Its alot different reading something off a board than sitting across a table sharing some beers jabbing.

I understand both sides of it and THANKS for sharing your thoughts as well, my friend!

Thats good Spear cause I'm actually a Atheist Wiccan that believes every happy ending should come with a toy:D

I think we all have nothing but RESPECT for those that have served and even more for those that have fallen, it just that too many put their religon first and not their fellow man

But ozzy........ many believe without religion or God/god there would be no fellow man. Sorta like the chicken and the egg thing. The problem with religion as a whole is everybody wants you to believe like they do and if you don't..... something is wrong with you or something bad to bound to happen to you. So their always trying to bring you over to their side even if you don't want to be on any side.

I bet we all would like to burn one with God/god and a bunch good boys who give their life in war for this country......... I hope God/god brings his stash to the party.

This thread had good intentions, I hate the way it had to turn. :(

religion is like history the winner is who gets to right the rules.all any religion is, Is a way for the few to control the many. It's a man made drug like crank coke or pills.
