good methed for germing in rockwool

hey does anybody know of a good way for me to germ my seeds in rockwool. i will be starting another grow of N.L. and A.I. from gypsy nirvana.

lol noooooooooooooo! dont germ in the rockwool..germ in between some moist paper towel inside a zip lock...put it on something that gets warm for a good germ. ratio..then put the germinated seed tap root down into the rockwool..you'll be happy you did..trust me.i've seen so many people try germinating in rockwool with no success.

hey Aurora Indicas Dad, also should i soak the rock in 7.0 ph water before i put sprout in..

soak the rockwool is water with a ph level of 5.5
then you can let it sit in some 5.8 water for an hour to level it out..you never want your ph level at 7..try to stay around 6.0-6.5

also,no nutes for the first couple weeks..just 6.0-6.5 ph adjusted water.

I agree with AI Dad, I personally soak my rockwool plugs in PH 6.0 water that is preparing for nutes. Then after soaking overnight I take plug in hand and swing in downward motion until all water that flings off is not doing so, rockwool has an amazing water retention ability, but you do not want it to retain too much water or it will rot seed. Fine balance! Then I insert seed 1/4" into plug, set on a plate and cover with a clear tupperware lid. Since you want to promote some humididty, keeping temp "comfortable" is key. Use your cp monitor if you want (AI Dad other post reference)! Personally I germinate in rockwool for my hydro starts unless clones of course as I do not like the paper towel method, and use Light Warrior for "dirt" grows.

However, if you ask 20 different growers how they do it, you will find 20 different responses each having his or her own successes. The key is to find what works for you and expound upon that by utilizing an awesome resource like this website to make your harvest better each time!

so what your saying is you personally Do germ in rockwool? im new to the hydro thing but i have a lot of outdoor experiance. also would you use like a heating pad under the humididy chamber?

dont do it.

sprout in soil then put sprout into rockwool.

i germed in paper towl 100%

soil sprout 99%
rockwool sprout 70%

Most people qustioned do the paper towel thing, my local gro shop owner swears by paper towel, my local friends are all towel fanatics as well, I am one of the few I suppose that germ in the rockwool for hydro I suppose, or I use jiffy pellets for dirt grows. I do know a guy that uses jiffy pellets and puts it into hydroton and grows out from there, but that is an extreme exception I suppose. I have had good luck with it, I guess I had bad luck with an expensive batch of seeds in paper towel and have used the gro medium ever since... that was somewhere around 1995 I think...
