Get your 30X loupe out and look at the trichomes. If they're all milky with a few turning amber (I go 20%), they're ready.
Keep in mind that you don't have to harvest all the buds at once. If you've got some that have ambered up a little, hack 'em. You can always wait for the others to catch up.

Very un educated on all this. With brain injury to add. Don’t have a 30x loupe. I have a magnifying glass that’s real strong. All I see is amber/ orange hairs and looks like sugar crystals all over the buds

Jeweler's loups are cheap. Amazon or Ebay will have 'em for less than ten bucks.
If you wait 'til they're all amber like in John's pic, be prepared for extreme couch lock. If you like your weed racy, all milky is fine. Most of us shoot for 20% amber.
