I started a new single plant, some white widow, in soil, and I would love to set it up so I could hide the plant and not need to check it except like... once a week.

Being in soil, I don't want a timer to turn on for 10 minutes at a time every day... what I would like is some sort of digital timer that would turn on every 2 days for like 5-10 seconds at a time. This way I could put a fish pump in a bucket of water with nummy nutes and it would pleasantly water her ("her" I hope... christ...)

Trouble is, I can't (seem) to find any timers that turn on for less than 1 minute, and at intervals of more than a maximum of once daily. Anyone know if such a timer exists?

Yeah there are plenty of programmable digital timers on the market. Also check out the industrial section on EBay. Programmable timer is the way to go. These primitive timers like u get from Home Despot, suck. OK yust about for lamp cycles. Useless for hydro operation. Actually if I went full hydro I think I would use an old PC running Linux and buy a D to A board (controller) and program the system myself. Probly there are shareware progs orlready owt there.

home depot or wally world will have them:hubba: digital with multiple settings
the first pic is a Brinks timer from walmart second is a intermatic from the depot

i find that the cheaper ones work and last longer than the hi dollar ones.i use the ones i get from walmart.programmable for 15 min. intervals.i have some of the hi dollar ones and they are sitting in the closet.probably be in the garbage soon.

I know if can find electronic timers, but I was hoping to find one that I could program to go off every 2 days (not every day) for like... 10 seconds.

seems to me that everything lowes or HD sells are like... minimum on-time of 1 minute, and it doesn't go beyond every 24 hours. I dont want it to turn on that long, and I dont want it on every day.

I'm not doing a hydro setup, I'm doing soil.

I don't think they make what i'm lookin for =(
