dell xps grow box

hey fam hows it been its been i while since i have grow and now i have moved and cant do a large grow like i did before. so i have now moved to the pc grow case. i am using a dell xps silver case.

so i do i start this
fans 3 80 mm fans two the back i one in the front 12volt wired to pc power supply

2 40 mmm fans hook in to the power supply 12volt wired to pc power supply

i had a old harddrive cooler with lcd panel that tells me how hot my harddrive is running. i took it apart and wire it into the case so i can tell the temps inside the case 12volt wired to the pc power supply box .

i also had a external usb dvd burner with blue leds built in to it. so i took that apart and used just the power supply to power the leds from the dell and some extra leds i had laying around put that in a pc power supply box wired it up. everything works so far. so i can now turn off the all power to the box with the switch that was in the pc power supply box . used some white panda like stuff had laying around had laying around but i not sure if i should keep it in thier or take it down since the xps case is polished steel on the inside as well as the outside.

i will be using 10200 lumes of cfls mixed daylight and warm
aslo added a filter from a old vac to the front fan since it the most powerful fan in the box. case with the case and boy deos this fan blow and is very nosiy. anyway still try to figure out the best way to mount all the cfls .

i have been using four old 20 watt cfls so far to test the box temps and they stay around 69-77 so any comments on the box are anything else is always welcome pics will be up soon . they wont be the best but they will show up...

we must be twins, lol i was thinking the same thing. from seedling 5-8 weeks before you reach sexual maturity. that plant will outgrow that box at week 3. as a computer geek though, u got me wanting to do this as well. green mojo for you sir. im watching this one for sure

thanks guys i growing from seed just to test out the limits of the box. i know that they will out grow the box but since i havn't grow in about a year or two. this will give me time to fig out how to grow in this box . i always had a whole room or a big closet to grow in so going from there to here will some work plus it will give me a chance to save up some money to do this box how i really need it to be. i build this box for around 20$ the price for the cfls and duck tape.

i know guys the lights are not close to the plants but i want a lil stretch so i can start to take clones once i find out who are ladys and who are not. once they start to give me clones the whole box will go in the windows sill . and will be replaced by clones in 16.0z cups will be trying a pcsog. eight clones should fit inside the box. i hope that thier mother will not be to branchy and will give me single cola clones

i was thinking just using a 50 watt mh and hps ballst kits with and and putting them into a cooltube but cant find a small cool tube that will fit inside the box t i think they the smallest is like 24in's long when i need 16in's long i konw width wise a 6in will fit but still to long

If you are going with a small wattage HPS, you can use a Pyrex Bake-A-Round for your cooltube--about 14" long and 3-1/2" or so in diameter. Check out e-bay--that is where I purchased mine. You might want to check out the DIY cooltube link in my sig.

hey hemp i remember when you first posted your diy cooltube it's very good step by step. i have read it alot of time. and even printed out for friends -your name just told them to join the forum if they want to learn more .any who i was leaning that way i have found one that will fit but in dia and in lent
but it seams like the pyrex bake around would be the best bet it smaller all the way round

drifting you know i not a noob when it comes to large grows but i like said this is to see what this box can do. whats the time frame before it fills up and how hot it run and how many or what type of light can i use in this box with out raising the temps. the plants in there will be the moms if any of them are ladies. i think i can do a pcsog 6-8 16.oz party cup using clones. that why i growing out the ones in the box for right now. i guess i could just put them outside but were would the fun be in that.

ok guys so heres the update i have now moved the fans around i moved the high black dell fan and one of the silver fans outside of case and put them on the back to give me more room. i put the other silver fan where the dell fan was because of the air flow over the plant was way to strong with the dell fan in the front. remade the air filter . remade the light holder as you can see in the pics and i have now add a screen to the the grow box just to see how long it will take to fill the screen. i now have three plants no sex yet. they have been tied down and top so far so good .short bus i remember you saying that they will out grow the box by week three nope. its amazing what lst will do and i think that the size of the home made planter is helping with the size. the temp are running around 68-73 78 at the highest so far. i am thinking of taking the power box out of the case and just running it as remote . it does have fan two fans in the power box but because i have the high power dell fan at the back with the silver fan . there really of no use. if i take out the the power box i will have more room for more cfls or using a cool tube with some 50 watt hps and mh kits i saw on ebay. still broke as crap so more then likely it will be cfls. the pics are crap came from a cam phone so enjoy. oh i also took the white flim down just didnt feel right. and i was thinking of ordering some more of those dell leds i have in the box or just ordering some small grow leds to put in between the poles you see in the box .

Go with the CFLs to veg and get a HPS to flower. Forget the LEDs.

hey roddy yes this thing does have light leaks but nothing alil whether striping cant fix. and lady hemp i think i will go with the mh and the hps in the same cool tube. but i will be spending more money for the hids and cooltube then for the cfl and led setup . still trying to figure out how to make a light trap for the back fans.
