Clone for Sex help

I am ready to sex my plants, and just need some questions answered so that I am sure I do it correctly.

I plan on taking a cutting, putting it into a cup of water, and put that directly into 12/12.

My questions are:
1, any nutes needed in the water?
2, how long does the cutting need to be?
3, do I need to allow any roots to develope from the cutting before going to 12/12?
4, am I missing anything?

No nutes, it'll still show sex and try to root at the same time whenever i tried this....but will take a lil longer than if the plant itself went in. About 6" clone is all you need. Just snag one of the lower branches
