my question is that when your seeds have cracked, and popped through the soil surface, what would be the best lighting to use on the seedlings from the start?
i have cfl`s and an HPS400w,but i was thinking that the cfl`s would produce tighter nodes and get them off to a better start.
I`m not sure, anyone?:smoke1: :48: :smoke1:

Definitlety CFL shuggy. Will produce tighter nodes as you said and you'll also run less of a chance of burning the young plants.

how many cfls u using shuggy going to get some today for 20 new seedlings how many sshould i need or do u think i should get the aquarium lights already have two of these if so how many more ?need the most cost efficient:D cheers

shuggy CFL are the best for that job at the bigining CFL keep them short and bushyyyy (that what i like that is )

nomesy i use one bulb per plant wit hmy veggin ( 6500K cool white cfl) but with your case i would go with aquarium lights , couse 20 plants its a lot , aquatic blue i think its called thats what i would use :)

i`ve only got two aquarium lights 30" "power-glo" 18000k, rich in the blue spectrum which is what you want for veg. cost being an issue i would go with what Brouli said and get the aquarium lamps.they`re not too expensive, deffinately cheaper to run and buy than the HID lamps.
but i`m not sure that i would use them for flower phase,i have a 400w HPS that i use in conjunction with the cfl`s.
for 20 seed "IMHO" would go for a 600w HPS minimum, also take into consideration that say 10 will be female, and when they grow you`ll need space. plan ahead man, that`s the way to go. the amount of cfl`s you`ll need for that many ladies your talking 8 30" t-8`s. you`d be cheaper in the long run, if your planning on growing continually, to buy an HPS from ebay, they go pretty cheap man and you`ll be glad you did come harvest time.
good luck dude, any problems just ask.;) and read...
