Ok getting ready for my next grow and I need to construct a new grow cabinet. I am thinking I have the perfect spot for it, but I am not the greatest at drawing out plans so I was hoping I could enlist some help from my friends here at MP.
Let me give you all a few details about what I want to attempt to build. The dimmensions of the area for the box are 45" wide 20" deep 96" height (actually I have more height but would rather keep this at 8ft). I want to seperate this cabinet into 2 different sides, 1 side for 12/12 for cuttings and the other side for mother plant(s). The larger side will have a 400w hps light and the mother side will be 250w mh. I will be growing with soil. Both sides will be lined with mylar. So I need help, what kinda ventilation am I gonna need? What kind of wood would be best? Will I need to build a frame out of 2x4's or can I just screw the wood together without a frame? I was looking at 1/2" plywood, but I'm not sure if that will be sturdy enough. I want to keep this cabinet as light (as in weight) as possible. Can anyone with some experience please input on any of these questions? Thanks.

Make a 2/2 or 2/4 frame. You can use 1/2" plywood. Can you make it a little wider and deeper--the 8' height is good. If you can air cool your lights this helps a lot with heat. In addition to fans to cool the lights, you need some kind of intake for fresh air (it can sometimes be passive) and some kind of exhaust. You may need a carbon filter on the exhaust to control odor. What you will need to cool your space depends on things like the temps around the box and how effective your other venting is.

Very nice information, thank you for that. I will update this thread with my build pics as I can and I am sure I will have questions along the way. Stay tuned.
